I was just recovering from TMJ for the last 6 months when I tried LDN and it made me clench my teeth at night and now my jaw is locked up and extremely painful. I can't deal with another 6 month wait for the pain to let up.
What injections would be best? I take it steroidal shots are not good with lyme? Are botox shots alright? Anything else work for people? I'm seeing an oral surgeon tomorrow.

I might have mentioned this in the past, but anyhow- This falls under "anything else":
Deep muscle pressure pont massage can relieve TMJ. Not just the massaging the jaw, but from the neck/clavical up to the head muscles. It works for me as well as many others as seen on you tube. This would work in conjunction with other treatments too.

Yes I had that done without any relief. I've seen multiple massage therapist, PTs and Chiros as well as every muscle relaxer and pain killer out there. Nothing has helped even a little bit. It's so bad it's making me not want to live anymore.
I just want to know what injections I can get that don't interfere with lyme. I want to try botox but it seems questionable with lyme.

Are you able to go to a university's dental clinic to see an orofacial pain dentist??? UNC Chapel Hill and Univ of KY are considered the tops. A good nightguard fitting, their resting instructions (which are really more than I'd ever think of w/o seeing one), lidocaine trigger point injections, TMJ PT, dryneedling... I'd really recommend trying to be seen at a university's orofacial pain dentist...

low dose cortisol (for adrenals) helps me a little.
Another option I haven't tried is botox. yes bottox can be injected into those tight muscles and alleviate the stress, I've heard of it's use in TMJ.

Thanks everyone. I saw an oral surgeon today and he says a need an MRI before any treatment. I can't wait that long. I found some place that does botox so I think I'll try that. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know.

There is physical therapy for the jaw, it's no different than any other injured muscle or joint. I second seeing an
orofacial pain dentist
, they helped me with an extreme case of bruxism when regular dentists couldn't.
