the Bartonella and Babesia tests are separate from the lyme tests.

And they're often not reliable/accurate unfortunately. (even worse than the lyme testing)

Thank you for the reply I am at my wits end trying to get this all figured out. My primary doctor did my tests and than I went to a lyme specialist and he read the results and gave me Maralone. But now I am not sure if they even tested for bartonella. I am going friday to see a new primary hoping he can help me out. I have been having such a bad day today not sure if its the new medicine that I started last week Maralone. I did a dry brushing and epsom salt and baking powder bath to help. But nothing is working I am so tired of crying and feeling like I am lost

Just an FYI - you don’t need to test positive for the coinfections - llmd’s will look at your symptoms, your response to the meds and either a) treat clinically based on that or b) treat the three B’s regardless. (Borrelia, Bartonella. Babesia)

It’s okay that you are being treated for Babesia and not Bartonella yet -

Sounds like the malarone is hitting the Babesia and causing the worsening of symptoms.

Re: detoxing - it isn’t a one shot deal - it can take awhile to get the toxins out - you need to detox daily - and several methods daily.

First of all, be glad that your PC doctor is willing to work with you on this. 2nd, you should feel very fortunate that you tested positive for Babesia and Lyme on what sound like very standard basic lab tests. (im assuming quest or labcorp?) This means your condition is verifiably documented. All of these diseases are notoriously difficult to test for, and often patients get results from specialty labs that are usually dismissed by mainstream doctors. At least you know what you are dealing with.

Babesia and Lyme are well known tick diseases. Bartonella has been proven to be carried by ticks, but mainstream medicine hasnt officially recognized that it can be SPREAD to humans by ticks.

So for this reason its not unusual that a standard tick panel would not include Bartonella. Most mainstream doctors assume Bartonella can only be spread to people by cat scratches and that the symptoms are self resolving after a month or so.

There are many different strains of bartonella and bartonella is extremely difficult to test for. It's good that you are trying to be thorough and find out exactly what you have before treating. But as far as truly verifying a Bartonella infection, there arent a lot of very reliable options available.

The only test that is highly reliable for Bart in the US is offered by a company called Galaxy Diagnostics. Their Bart test is very expensive and is not covered by insurance. It's about $900, but it is currently the most accurate and thorough Bartonella test available in the US today, and probably the world. Galaxy Diagnostics has contracted with a company called "any lab test now" which has locations all across the country, and this is probably the easiest way to get this test, as they already have the testing kits, and testing through this company doesnt even require an order form a doctor, you can do it all yourself.

Again it's good you know for sure you have Lyme and Babesia and you can begin to treat those right away. Some of the drugs used to treat Lyme are also effective against bartonella, depending on what your LLMD has given you for Lyme. Babesia is a whole different ballgame because it's not a bacteria, it is a protozoa so it doesnt respond to antibiotics. Malarone is anti protozoal, and is standard treatment for Babesia, and should be effective, but there are other anti protozoals that can also be used if that doesnt work.

It's good to have absolute certainty when you are dealing with these diseases, and just having those positive results is HUGE. Absolute certainty in regards to Bart in the current medical climate will unfortunately cost you a lot of money. But there are other options. There are basic bartonella panels from quest, labcorp and others that are likely covered by insurance, but the problem is they arent very sensitive, only test for 2 strains, and a doctor must order them and most doctors dont make the connection between bart and ticks, so most mainstream doctors wont order it for you. However a good LLMD might if you ask.

You are a lot further ahead than most people who have these diseases, and you are blessed with a strong immune system if you are showing detectable antibodies. Many people arent so lucky. Good luck with treatment, and i would advise you to keep it simple and be patient. Babesia and Lyme can take a long time to treat so dont get sidetracked with the idea of going after parasites and other side issues. You have 2 very clear diseases you can attack and there are medicines currently available that are scientifically proven to kill those bugs. Give it your best shot and expect a positive outcome.
