“The second project is further along in that we're ready to go forward with drug formulation and laboratory testing. I'm working alongside Dr. Neil Spector of Duke, Dana Parish, Dr. Ed Breitschwerdt and his several of his team from Galaxy Diagnostics and NC State, and too many others to list here. We're developing what we believe will be a game-changing drug for the treatment of bartonella and Lyme, made possible by this joint-development effort involving some of the smartest folks from academia, the private sector, and the non-profit world.”

He was just awarded a grant from Bay Area Lyme Foundation to be used for in vitro trials he expects to start in July. Had an appt. today and he’s really determined and optimistic.

It’s something I think about a lot. Even for those of us who do treat. We can treat until we’re symptom free but these are stealth bacteria and we just have no way of knowing if there are bacteria doing damage even though we are symptom free or have minimal symptoms. I watched a YouTube video of an interview with Alan McDonald where he said that (paraphrasing) if Borrelia are present they aren’t just hanging around reading The NY Times - they’re doing damage to the cells.

It’s sobering to think about. Dr. P treated his dad for a long untreated Lyme infection and he got well but now has dementia in his 80’s.
