Conflicted as to how I feel about this

Not sure if this has been discussed but i came across this article in the UK press and I have mixed emotions.

I feel like I should be happy for some kind of progress but while i will be happy if they put a stop to the majority of people catching this horrible illness I also worry that if they have a vaccine they wont invest more resources in helping those of us who already have it.

I have read some scientific papers/articles that claim a vaccine for Borrelia would not work. Just like the flu vaccine doesn't work...

As it is, I refuse the flu shot...and everything except tetanus...which I will not get unless I am at risk (cut my self on something dirty/rusty)

But FYI on the tetanus shot - but from what I've read, it's too late to get the tetanus vaccine when you get a bad cut based on timing. Instead, you are suppose to get the tetanus antitoxin injections instead of the vaccine at the time of a suspicious cut/injury.
Please correct me if I'm mistaken, as I don't have my disease/vaccine resource handy at the moment.

Oh, I didn't know that...well, then I'll get that instead....

EDIT: I did a quick google search...and several sites do say that you can get the tetanus shot after you get cut...but I don't think you wait until you get symptoms...just go in right after you get the cut from a dirty object.
