Hello,
I've been reading some articles of people who thought they had chronic lyme only to find out they had some form of cancer later on... and kind of scared as I've been sick now for almost 7 months and although my LLMD is pretty sure I have lyme + bartonella (positive western blot and IGG through Quest), I'm not sure if I may have cancer of some sort? I've seen many traditional doctors who have performed many blood workups of me and they say there are no indications of cancer based on my bloodwork. They said that if I have something like leukemia or lymphoma it would clearly show in the CBC...is that true? Does anyone know what cancers are out there that most mimic lyme-like symptoms?
My symptoms include:
-shortness of breath/air hunger
-flu-like malaise, fatigue, and body aches
-on and off nausea
-GI gas/bloating...sometimes acid reflux
-weird head pressure behind nose/tension headache
-dizziness
-tingling and slight numbness in hands/arms
-chest pain (around breastbone)
-foot pain (bottom of foot upon applying pressure...comes and goes)
-urinary/bladder burning sensation (has since subsided)
-moodiness, anxiety
-sometimes loss of appetite
But now I've been on 1.5 months of doxycycline (100 mg twice a day) and although it initially seemed like I was getting better after 3-4 weeks, I feel like I've hit a plateau and not really getting better at all now along with new symptoms that are occurring...
I'm a young guy, 28, who was otherwise really healthy and active (gym 5-6 times a week) who suddenly went down with flu-like symptoms in December of last year...and never quite recovered. MRI of my head, CT scan of my abdomen, X-ray of my chest all showed negative. My symptoms got so severe at many points that I had to go to the ER 4-5 times now total this year.
I'm seeing my LLMD again this Monday and he'll put me on a new treatment plan as the doxy was just a preliminary course until they get lab results back but real anxious that I might be getting misdiagnosed? If it is cancer, or I have the suspicion, what steps should I take to rule out forms of cancer other than CBC which I have done many times...?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Peter
