Liposomal oregano

I see Hopkinton pharmacy makes a liposomal oregano. I would think since it's liposomal it absorbs better in the body. Has anyone tried it? Also wondering how safe it is to ingest since oregano is considered a hot oil.

Carvacrol which is the compound found in oregano which has strong activity against lyme. It doesn't matter if the oregano oil is in liposomal form if the carvacrol content is low. You're better off finding one with high carvacrol content.

Dr sp in ct put me on it, from hopkinton. I take it with food but have never had any burn from it that I have heard about with others. Seemed effective as part of protocol. Did 3 or 4 bottles. It was by prescription only when I was taking it. 93$ for 60 pills. I also do liposomal art from there- don't need a prescription for that one. Curious if the ooo is over the counter yet. Along with only Diflucan at one point I had some head herxes.

does anyone know the % carvacrol in the Liposomal Oil of Oregano from Hopkinton?

I spoke to them at the one LymeConnections event, they make it there. as far as i know, no one else makes this.

I called and all the compounding pharmacist said was that it was 75mg. of active material which he acknowledged was the carvacrol. The actual percentage varies from batch to batch.

No it's more complicated than that. It involves components of lecithin such as phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. It must be a good product because I've taken the ADP from Biotics and that's just emulsified which is not as good as liposomal but it still kicked my butt (major die-off). The GI effects made me quit though (too much gas).

liposomal formulations basically break the oil-soluble type of drug or supplement down into tiny little bubbles of product surrounded by water-soluble phospholipids

these phospholipids are preferentially absorbed by the body's membranes as they are v similar to the substances in the cell membrane.

they are expensive to make vs standard approaches and so are only really useful where the compound is otherwise difficult to absorb in sufficient quantity to achive teh theraputic effect.

typically molecules with high molecular weight - eg curcumin = 200+ molecular weight - as these are generally poorly absorbed by the body when taken directly.

not all oil-soluble chemicals are hard to absorb - so in some cases just taking the same compound in oil - if oil-soluble can work just as well - or just taking more but in oil/fatty food can work fine.
