Losing Ability to Tan

Last summer and earlier this summer, I was spending a lot of time outside and got more of a tan than I'd ever had in my life. It was actually strange. I had always had a tendancy to burn and what little tan I could achieve was splotchy.

In the past couple of weeks, I noticed the tan was fading, so I started trying to sit in the sun more. However, I'm not really tanning anymore. Instead, I get some slight pink splotchy areas on my legs and feet. Basically nothing in face, chest, arms.

What does all this mean? There has to be a reason for these changes to occur after all these years (I'm 48).

I was really happy when I was tanning for the first time in my life, and now it seems to be going away.

I don’t know what it means but something strange happened to me too re: the sun.

I was meeting a friend at an outdoor coffee shop so I put sunscreen on -except for my back because I thought I could sit facing the sun.

I ended up spending some time with the sun on my back - maybe 1/2 hour.

A few hours after getting home - I was putting on my bathing suit before heading to a friends’ bbq (with a pool) and my husband pointed out a very dark red burn on my upper back.

The strange thing is it didn’t feel burned - usually I will feel it before I see it.
My skin has been so strange since Lyme.

Few days later and it still doesn’t feel like a burn but it looks like a bad one.

Are you taking glutithione? I believe glutithione changes the skins ability to tan as much.

Antibiotics can do this too if you are still treating.

Hi, Don. Yes, I've been on glutathione for almost 2 years - the time when I was able to tan nicely for the first time in my life.

I haven't heard that before. How does it affect the skin?
