I will throw in my experience as well for extra info in case someone is looking for experiences now or in the future.
I did the DNA Connexions test not once but TWICE...
To keep it short - the both times I did a deep tissue massage but the first time I didn't void my bladder and then take the next sample I just took the sample an hour later.
The first test showed NOTHING. No lyme, bartonella, babesia, nothing.... This is after I have had a positive western blot for lyme including a couple lyme specific bands.
The second test showed bartonella hensale. Fair enough.. my symptoms do seem to be bartonella related. However, still inaccurate because, again, no borrelia.
I called them after my first test and they assured me that their test uses PCR (which I knew) and they said it is so incredibly precise that there is no way I had lyme or coinfections. (The second test showed bartonella even though the first didnt....) So I asked why or how I had a positive western blot test for lyme and they couldnt answer it. They said I have probably cured it.. LOL
Anyway... is it worth it? Maybe... all lyme tests are a shot in the dark, but $500 is a lot for a test that I wouldnt consider perfect.
To be honest, if I had to do it over, I wouldn't. I've learned that we shouldnt be worried so much about testing, but more worried about treating based on symptoms.
Many of these infections have such specific symptoms that it makes it pretty easy to pinpoint.
examples:
Night sweats - babesia
Off balance feeling - babesia
Anxiety/mood swings - bartonella
foot pain - bartonella
etc..
How did they explain no bart first test but it showed up second time?
Re symptoms - there is a lot of overlap - example - bart and Lyne can both cause anxiety.
But I agree we can’t soley use testing. LLMD JJ treats all three B’sThey told me that the second time was because I voided my bladder after the massage and then took the next sample. In my opinion, if the PCR test is so precise and accurate, it should've showed up before too.
You're right, there is tons of overlap in symptoms. I may have misspoke a little there.
I do agree that treating all three B's is a must. Doing so also treats tons of other infections as well.
