Thanks for the replies you all, guys and gals.
I guess I read too much into Ellie's speech, (don't know if she said the word legal to treat, she was energetic)
but what's the difference if you (one) is bullied into doing something that isn't in their best interest? Like my diagnosis being critically delayed and "discouraged" (that's the exact words in my chart) from using ABX, which I still disagree with.
Anyway the BVT looks promising. And I still have quasi-expired doxycycline and minocycline on hand...
The thing about bees is the commitment once started, and the mentioning of anaphylactic shock if you stop and start again. And handling bees, because I can't reach my back. And the epipen (generic is around 10 dollars). I see my medicinal bees right outside on the coconut blossoms right now, but I'm holding off for my tester sting.
I have been in Ellie’s group on Facebook, and if you post science (I have two degrees in science, I’m not sure what qualifications she has) that contradicts what she says on the site, she’ll come after you. She is seriously crazy. I’m sorry if others don’t believe this, or really believe her “facts on BVT,” but I need to warn you, that following her, and only her, will get you into trouble. There are physicians in the US that do work with BVT. Seek one out because you’ll need a professional to guide you. Ellie doesn’t know what is going on in your body. She doesn’t see all of your labs.
I talked with a well known physician who did BVT in his practice, and he told me to immediately stop doing BVT after looking at my labs. He stated it’s making my immune system way too overreactive and it’s not the right treatment for me, after looking at my other labs.
I don’t want anyone to suffer needlessly, and I don’t want anyone to get their hopes up following someone who is sketchy, in my opinion. I’ve been down that road, and it doesn’t feel good emotionally or physically.I understand what you are saying. I don't believe in a one size fits all either. Listen to your body. If your labs were bad, I agree, stop. But you cannot discount all the successes with her protocol either. Apitherapy has shown to help numerous ailments. Ellie is quite eccentric. And in many ways she's a genius. But as every doctor I have ever spoken to, there are things I am not completely on board with. Every one of them. They believe in their method. Ellie is no different. What I appreciate about
her is that she is very hands on with her community, and it costs us nothing.
I'm on board for now and having my pcp run labs every 4 to 6 weeks. If something is off, I will deal with it. But for now, there are too many success stories for a relatively new protocol, that is super cheap for me not to try it. Even our resident bvt guy swears by it saying it was a staple in him overcoming Als type symptoms.
Thanks for the concern. To each their own
