Hi all,
I've yet to read about someone with lyme who has this symptom and it's really freaking me out. I often have a burning sensation from my waist down (but occasionally above) and the skin is so tender that it inflames, temporarily turns red, and burns. This happens when pressure is applied. This happens on my buttocks and back of thighs constantly as well and makes it uncomfortable to sit. My pubic area has been really irritated since this started, too. I have to be shaved all the time or it's so uncomfortable, and I get red dots that show up often. That area is irritated just with a touch.

This has been continuous for 8 months now. Could lyme be causing this?? Antihistamines don't help.

I do remember someone having this on their feet.


I didnt have the red skin but I did have a burning, tender, not really tingling but a similar sensation under or in my skin surface.

It was in my buttocks, torso, legs.

Have you checked for Bartonella also.

Hopefully others will have some insight into this and be along soon.

Have you seen a dermatologist about this? It can't hurt to see a skin specialist.

I did a Bartonella blood test here in Canada that was negative, not sure how sensative that test was. It’s really scaring me that no one else seems to really have experienced this... I don’t know what this is and it’s my worst symptom.

I’ve seen 2 dermatologists about it, I had 2 punch biopsies done and the only thing that came back was that my skin is inflamed, so the derm said I likely have hyper dermatographism but antihistamines (even prescription ones) don’t work. I’m not sure I believe that diagnosis.

I don’t get the burning skin. But when I wake in the morning my stomach will be red either all over or one side. It typically goes away after 30-40 minutes. I used to think it was how I was laying but it happens if I am sleeping on my back also. Very strange.

i had a spot on my forehead that was the same way. red and raised with occasional burning, pulsing pain. I would push on it and it felt worse and also felt like a cyst or growth. it went away when i got deeply into treatment (mainly with monolaurin) but it would get worse when i would herx.

i haven't seen or felt it in a while so hopefully you can get rid of it with treatment. I think its a bartonella symptom and the tests aren't accurate because there are many types of this germ. All the best to you.
