Hi Everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me. I understand all herb menstrun levels pretty well. As long as there in 2 digits. For example 1:5 or 5:1. My problem is trying to figure out what 1:3:15 is supposed to mean?Lol I'm am currently trying to decide between a tincture of Motherwort that is 1:4 and one that is 1:3:15. Yes they are both made with fresh parts. Lol I am trying to figure out which one is stronger but that's a bit hard to do when I don't know what 1:3:15 means. Normally I would be inclined to think it was lower in strength but this company is usually known for selling stronger ones then the one that's 1:4. So I'm really hoping someone can help me smile

I’ve only seen them with two numbers :a ratio - first number being plant and second number being volume of alcohol (menstrum)

Maybe call the company and ask what the third number represents.

Is this one of Buhners recommended sources?

Are there 3 ingredients to the second motherwort tincture? Maybe one number is motherwort, the second number is alcohol, and the third number is whatever the other ingredient is. That would probably mean the tincture is weaker.

But it could be a typo or an error. Do all the other tinctures the company is selling have three numbers? Maybe you could call the company and ask what it means.

Yeah that much I know lol I'm just trying to figure out the 3rd part. The only time I've sever seen a 3 is if it's 3 pars of something. Like 3 different herbs. Maybe it's referring to the flower, leaf, and stem.. Idk.. I'm just hoping it doesn't mean it's weaker.. Yes it is one of his recommended sources. smile

Nottime4lyme, no not that I have ever noticed except this one. This company often makes tinctures that are a bit stronger then some other recommend sources. That's why I'm a bit confused. Idk why they would want to make motherwort of all things less strong..

Girlie, it's Sage Woman herbs. I asked woodland Essence when I placed an order with them and they have no idea what that means.

Here’s what is in their site:

1:3.15


That is a ratio of 1:3.15

There are two numbers, the second one being 3.15

Girlie, where did you find where it said that? I just looked again and i see it says 1:3.15 not 1:3:15. But that still dose not help me.. Do you understand that? Dose it mean that the tincture is 1:3 with .15% over 1:3 or the .15 represents another part? Idk my brain hurts.

So 1:3.15 the 3.15 is just a bit more than 3 (which is 3.0)



It means the tincture is 1:3.15 NOT 1:3.0

It's a little over 3 (the menstrum is 3.15 not 3.0)


That's my take on it.

So in simplistic terms it just means that the tincture is 1:3.15 meaning that it is just .15 over 1:3. So that would mean that it would be stronger then a tincture of 1:4. Is that what your saying?

My take on it would be to get rid of the 1, and do 3:15. If you divide both sides by three you get 1:5. But I really have no idea.

It's not written 3:15

It's 1:3.15 ........ 3.15 not 3:15

Unless you're saying it's a typo on the bottle?

It is not a typo. I figured it out. In very simplistic terms it is actually closer to a ratio of 1:1 they are just being very exact with their volume which is the 3.15 . So it is definitely stronger then a 1:4. Which is all I really cared to know so that I could determine based on which one was stronger where I'm going to purchase it from. Thank you everyone that commented and tried to help! smile

Yup, it's stronger than 1:4 but not as strong as 1:3
