I just grabbed Buhner's Healing Lyme because he explains it so well:
"The most important thing to understand about lyme disease is that bacteria have an affinity for collagenous tissues. This is at the root of every symptom they cause. Borrelial bacteria are parasites. they cannot make very many of the substances they need to live, so they harvest them from their hosts. As Margulis at al. (2009) comment, "Human tissue provides food and other conditions of growth for b.b.spirochetes." The majority of the food they need is to be found in collagen-like tissues throughout the body. Wherever they feed on those tissues is where symptoms occur. If they find them in the joints, it's arthritis. If they find them in the skin, various skin manifestations emerge. If in the heart, heart disease. If in the nervous system or the brain, neurological symptoms. ..."
And so on, he mentions brain, breaking down myelin sheaths into a soup of nutrients they need. He says "If you protect the collagen structures of the body, the symptom picture begins to disappear".
I am so happy to hear the skin on your neck has improved. Hopefully other parts will as well.
Lol - I stand corrected -
