A couple of months ago, I watched a documentary on Netflix. It is called: Unrest. It is about people suffering from CFS. There was a little discussion about how some people were getting relief from using viral medication.
As a lot of us know, so many things can cause adrenal fatigue. Lyme, co infections, mold, yeast/fungus, parasite, and viruses just to name a few. It can be so hard to figure it out.
LittleBear - I made it through a good portion of Unrest late night. Ironically, or not so ironically, I feel asleep before finishing it.
I think a lot of these chronic diseases are separated into their own little worlds, and perhaps, we'd make more progress if we combined our efforts better. A lot of these chronic diseases, imho, are caused by pathogens (virus, bacteria, etc). But yet, for many of them, we are being failed by our medical community.
In the documentary, they mentioned CDC doctor saying that it didn't exist and the "outbreak" in that one area was hysteria. Gee, sound familiar in our lyme world?
I think we'd make much more progress if we looked at pathogens. It is criminal that these doctors are saying it's in these people's heads when they can't figure it out. Makes so many of us mad. Wish the doctors were more humble and simple say "I believe something is wrong with you, but sometimes we just aren't smart enough to figure it out". But instead of admitting their shortcomings, they blame the patient. This is completely unacceptable.
FWIW - I DID have a fabulous doctor say that to me about
my son: "I believe something is wrong with your child, but sometimes we just aren't smart enough to figure it out". I knew then that this was the doctor who could help us, and in fact, he did save my Kid#1 (after many, many other failed doctors and specialists).
I totally agree with you saying that "a lot of these chronic diseases are caused by pathogens." I truly wish doctors would be more
open minded. Several months ago, Mc Donald's was on the news for having parasites found in their salads. What do people think this does to people with a weakened immune system? Just because we don't live in a third world country doesn't mean that we are not exposed to parasites. Look at all the fruits and vegetables that are shipped here from all over the world. What about
eating sushi? Do people know where the fish came from, was it tested for parasites?
Everyone can pretty much agree that Shingles (virus) is Chicken pox that gets reactivated. The hallmark symptom is the painful rash. So, who is to say that my severe fatigue isn't the reactivation of my EBV. Why is it that most people believe that only 1 virus (Shingles) can be reactivated.
I have been let down by the medical community too many times to count. If you see a doctor and start to cry because your symptoms are so scary or painful, they look at you as being weak. If you don't cry, then your pain must not be that bad.
When you are a kid and doctors don't find anything wrong, then the kid must be faking it to get out of going to school. A doctor said those words to my mom when I was young and had bad headaches daily. She would tell the doctor that the teachers were calling her to pick me up from school because the teacher could see it on my face that I was not well.
When your 20-50 years old your symptoms get blamed on stress from your college education, career, and/or having a family.
When your 50 years and older, your symptoms get blamed on "getting older ".
I totally forgot; until you mentioned it, the part in the documentary about
the CDC. They are all a bunch of worthless idiots!
I am CDC positive for Lyme. I was so happy when I got diagnosed, because I thought one maybe 2 months of antibiotics (because I have had this for so many years) and I would be CURED. I was so very wrong.
