Hi there. Been awhile since I’ve posted! Has anyone had or heard of developing mast cell/histamine issues from Cowden herbs banderol, samento?
I started them a few weeks ago and since starting I’ve had a swollen left gland and feel extra mucousy(though I do have seasonal allergies) it feels as though someone choking me a bit. Could this be from the herbs? Histamine? Or something else?
I’m usually good at identifying triggers but can’t figure this out. I’ve never had this gland/choking thing as a symptom, I’m 1 year in of treatment. I’ve used various abx and herbs to this point. TZiA smile

i think mcas can present itself just in treating these infections...after 2 yrs of abx and herbs i developed both pots and mcas, which actually seem to be linked in some...any drug that crosses blood brain barrier can impact central nervous system, and if the bugs reside there, i think mcas can be stirred up....my llmd says with treatment it can go away, but the problem is how can you treat if the mcas goes crazy when herxing....my brain got foggier each round of meds this past yr....i now suspect it was mcas and histamine release in the brain....so right now im trying to stabilize the mcas then maybe do some herbals, as they can be gentler...plus some buhner bart herbs tend to help stabilize mcas ive read (like houttunia)

Keep in mind also that the alcohol in the tinctures is a major histamine. My MCAS is why i can't take herbal tinctures anymore

I didn’t even think about that!!! I just googled this. Says if you put the drops in warm water the alcohol dissolves...I wonder if this is true?

have you tried Quercetin? It Is More Effective than prescription drugs in Blocking Human Mast Cell Cytokine Release

Quercetin phytosome is what you want, not the regular Quercetin

ive started greatly increasing my usage of olive oil which apparently increases the amount of dao in your blood...dao helps to break down histamine which is a big part of the mast cell reaction
