Hey everyone

so yesterday i had my phone appt with the Jemsek clinic..it went well and she said she was going to send my new protocol through the patient portal... im continuing babesia treatment but am adding in biofilm busters...

One of the meds im supposed to take is CIPRO! Im terrified to even attempt to take this... ive just heard very bad things... i only take it 3 times a month but still....

I called the clinic and left a message that im not comfortable taking this med...so just waiting for a call back...

what do you guys think? being that i only take it 3 days a month, do i take it? or do i skip it all together???

When I saw Dr. J in August...I was prepared to have the fluoroquinolone discussion. He actually brought it up...when he was writing out my protocol. He asked if I was 'dead set against it'. I said 'pretty much'.

I'm on rifabutin instead.

Its up to you. If you don't want to take it...then speak up.....they will give you an alternate protocol.
It's not the first time they've heard this....

Thanx girlie.. im definately against it... i called and left a message. im supposed to pick up all my prescriptions later, im just gonna refuse the cipro and not pay for it. i also wanna switch from mepron to malerone because my insurance company covers all and malerone but only half the mepron... so once they call back ill have a nice talk lol

So I picked up my prescriptions last night and just refused the cipro. Def not taking it. The clinic called today and said they will ask the dr for an alternative. Woohoo

I think because of the severity of the side effects (is it 3 black box warnings now? or 4?) they are willing to provide an alternative.

- tendon rupture
- Peripheral neuropathy
- CNS issues

and ?

Some members here have taken it with good results. It seems to be the best antibiotic for Bartonella.

I refused it, but I won’t tell others not to take it. It’s up to each person.
