Hello,

I was wondering how common throat pain, tonsil inflammation and sinus inflammation are with lyme and co's? Also coughing up thick green or yellow phlegm and same thing coming out of sinuses and insomnia.

I am with a new doctor who wants to start fresh and she seems to think I might have some kind of chronic sinusitis since it is really my main symptom. I have never been tested for any kind of fungal infection. She is open to lyme disease and is not a LLMD per se, but she does treat lyme disease patients regularly using stuff regularly discussed on this board and she doesn't seem convinced that I have Lyme/coinfections.

My next most prominent symptom is lower back pain, but this could be unrelated since I have done an MRI which did show disk extrusion in lower back.

Hi deepcan,

Have you tested for mycotoxins? I know molds can really manifest themselves in the sinuses. Worth checking and treating if so, but in the meantime, I would recommend steam inhalation and especially Neti potting to alleviate symptoms

I have never tested for mycotoxins... Is that generally available in normal healthcare setting?

Yes Girlie I tested positive for borellia with Igenex, but I am not so sure I trust those results to be honest.

If it’s positive - why don’t you trust it?
You obviously tested because you had history and/or symptoms indicating a possible tickborne illiness...
The test backs up the clinical diagnosis.

You also stated you responded well to the treatment, right?

You may need to treat other coinfections, or mold if that’s an issue....

I'm UK-based, so not sure what your options are if you're elsewhere; but my wife went private for a mycotoxin test, and her samples went over to the US, at Great Plans Laboratory. Showed up one mycotoxin in particular as being very high (Ochratoxin A), and she has suffered with sinus-related issues for a while, such as blocked nostrils, headaches and post nasal drip. Worth testing alongside everything else, I think.

She tested for mycotoxins and some GI mapping alongside initial Lyme tests. Not sure which positives were coincidental and which stem from Lyme (in that the immune system is suppressed and more prone to other ailments). Lapis_29 mentions a bacterium above too. Worth testing to cover as many bases as possible I think. My wife tested positive for C Diff at the time, and just treating that with Sacc B sorted out a couple of symptoms for her that she could have otherwise just apportioned to Lyme
