How long do Antibiotics take to get relief

Hello All, I have been on Antibiotics for over 4 months I have had two different changes. I am not sure I am getting any relief or maybe this is a long herx reactions. I would appreciate any advice. Most of my symptoms are Neurological in nature and ringing in the ears.

In 4 months I had seen significant progress in some areas, but not all. If you haven't seen any improvement at all in 4 months you may want to consider re-evaluating your current treatment plan with your LLMD. Maybe there are different antibiotics that could be more effective, supplements that could help, or different doses needed.

When I first started treating I was constantly herxing. I realized I had to pull back otherwise it was just too much, but it took me a while to understand this dynamic in my case. Some people can go full blast right away, others have to slowly work their way into therapeutics otherwise they burn out.

Ringing in the ears... I've heard babesia can be the culprit on that one. I don't doubt the other infections potentially could cause this symptom as well but I've most often heard of babesia causing that particular symptom.

What are you currently on? which infections are you treating for?

My LLMD says ringing in the ears is primarily Lyme itself, but who knows.

At first I just took one or two antibiotics, and didn't see a lot of improvement. Once I got on the right combination of antibiotics, I saw some clear improvement after a few months.

I must stress that you need to take the right combination of antibiotics.

There was a study done using a combination of daptomycin, cefoperazone and doxycycline, which found that none of these by itself was capable of killing all the bacteria, but the combination of all three was effective. See https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0117207

I used a different combination: valproate, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. I found this effective, however I will point out that:

Valproate has a similar mechanism of action to daptomycin (causes cell membranes to leak)
Amoxicillin has a similar mechanism of action to cefoperazone (inhibits cell wall formation)
Clarithromycin has a similar mechanism of action to doxycycline (inhibits protein production)

So I would recommend you combine different classes of antibiotics.

just want to clarify that Valproate is not an antibiotic. It is used as anti-seizure and for bi-polar disorder.

Well, whatever it does, it kills borrelia burgdorferi, but it works quite differently from anything else that I took. It has no immediate effect, but slowly accumulates over a few weeks, and then kills the bacteria. It made me herx very unexpectedly after about 2 to 3 weeks. Be prepared for this if you decide to take it.
