Low CD 57 and systematic yeast?

I've been searching the boards to see if this question has already been discussed, and I can't find it anywhere, so forgive me if this is a repeated topic.

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a low cd 57 number due to a systematic yeast infection instead of Lyme. I'm still trying to rule things out.

I guess I'm still in disbelief of this diagnosis because my igenex western blot was negative, but had some positive and indeterminate, yet non specific bands (31, 34 ind, 41ind and 58). However my cd 57 was 29, so my ND is treating it anyway using an herbal approach.

This is all so confusing and now I have a yeast infection (sorry guys). I didn't think I would have this problem if using the Byron White Remedies.

I am taking probiotics and am now investigating a candida diet, but I am already losing weight with this thing and am afraid to lose more. It came off quick after years of not being able to lose a pound. (I know, I should be psyched).

Anyway, would appreciate any info you highly knowledgeable folks have! This board is so informative and helpful!

I've looked for this too. As far as I know, the CD57 is mainly lowered by lyme (not usually co-infections) although some people also believe that other things can lower it such as AIDS and chemotherapy.

I have Candida as well and my CD57 is under 20. I can definitely relate to the weight loss issue. I've been losing a ton of weight since before I changed anything with my diet in September. Now I'm starving all the time and still losing weight which I think is due to the Candida. I'm able to not lose too quickly by literally eating all the time.

Some of your bands (31 and 34) are very specific to lyme and many believe that they show up in late stage. Is your ND lyme literate?

Yeah, she works with a whole team of Lyme literate doctors as well. But I think she has only been Lyme literate for a couple of years, however, she has been very successful in her practice.

I had a good talk with her yesterday and feel better, but this whole thing still feels so bizarre. I guess everyone goes through that at some point.

Kimomile, did you ever make a link with your low CD57 and Candida. I have low Cd57 19...and suffered for years with systemic candida. Not as bad now but I wondered were they linked. I have further tests gone to the lab and am waiting to see a LL doc. when the results come back!

Interesting. I have candida and a very low cd 57 also but I don't think it's related. I think the cd 57 is a Lyme thing.

Per the other post, Ive had candida per testing many times and also have (still do) low cd-57. Once the candida symptoms cleared, I still had low cd57.

C4a, on the other hand, did seem to correlate with elevated internal candida albican antibodies.

Some people are born with low lymphocytes (cd57) and sometimes if it is lowed by illness, the change is permanent (without IVIG).

Ever have total lymphocyte levels tested? (I dont remember if I asked you that on another thread or not?)If those are low and/or you have repeated very low cd57, under 20 or so, it might be worthwhile to get an immunoglobulin panel done and B and T cells tested - but thats info on the other thread too. Could just save $ for now and only repeat cd57 as you feel like it.

Thanks Astroman. My lymphocytes on my regular blood count werenā€™t low, they were normal. Hope to get further tests back from Armin labs on Monday...itā€™s called Tickplex plus which covers about 8 tests...all the Bā€™s, mycoplasma Ehrlicha and others. Then I will get to see Consultant who is Lyme Literate. I will see how that goes and maybe at a later stage I can look at getting immunoglobulin panel done and B and T cells tested?!
