I was diagnosed with Lyme in 2013 (IgeneX test) and treated with Doxy + supplements. At that time I was not tested for any co-infections. Recently my new Dr. had me redo the IgeneX test with co-infections. My Lyme came back negative, but Babesiosis B. duncani EFA - IgG was 40. In my limited research it seems that 40 may or may not indicate an active infection, but does that mean I have had Babesia in the past? My Dr. is treating with Doxy (200 mg / 2x day) and Zithro (500 mg / 1x per day). I've started taking the Zithro 2x now over the last 7 weeks. Each time I start the Zithro after after 7 - 9 days I get terrible intestinal cramps, nausea, and loose stools and the Dr. has me quit. I have another appt. in 2 weeks to go over my meds. I'm just wondering if "40" on the Babesiosis really warrants doing these heavy doses of antibiotics. I'm also taking 2 meds for yeast infections. I feel so much worse on the meds than before I began - even with Detox (glutathione & Pekana detox kit).
The test results - whether borderline positive or fully positive doesn’t dictate which meds.
Either you treat it as an active disease with appropriate meds and doses or you don’t.
Having said that - doxy and Zithromax is not an effective treatment for Babesia.
You need an anti parasitical / antimalarial
