Weak Negative Lyme meaning?

Have I got Lymes?
My Armin Lyme Disease results are:

CD57 19 ( range 100-360)
My Borrelia Burgifori IgG Negative
My Borrelia Burgifori IgM Weak positive
All co-infections Negative

The Mayo Clinic website states:
Diagnosing Lyme disease

IgM assay is useful for confirming stage 1 (acute) Lyme disease. (My IgM was weak positive and my symptoms have been for 7 years so this should indicate my symptoms would not be from Lyme disease as this tests positive for NEW infection.)
I don’t remember a bite but was on holidays in a Lyme area around the time symptoms started!
Symptoms: chronic fatigue, chronic right sided neck pain and shoulder spasm, right temporal migraine, muscle pain, lower back pain, arthritic pain in some finger joints, candida
Any advice would be welcome as I have to wait 3 months to see a LLMD in Ireland!
I have a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue/ME..don’t feel either is correct?!

Don’t believe garbage that the Mayo clinic is spewing.

In most diseases igm indicates recent infection and IgG means older/inactive infection. But With Lyme IgM can persist - so you can be IgM positive months, even years after the initial infection.

I’m glad you have an appt scheduled with a LLMD.

Thanks Girlie, it will be good to get to the bottom of it! My guess is I can’t have any type of an antibody to Borrelia Burgifori, weak positive or otherwise, if I never had it in the first place, so therefore I must have Lymes?!

The antibody response to borrelia can manifest in many ways. Given that it causes various types of immune dysregulation, some people mount chronic IgM responses, others get no response, etc. So in this sense, a positive response to IgM markers doesn't necessarily mean the infection is new. Most doctors, even ID, don't know that the research corroborates the fact that those with borrelia have many different immune system responses to the organism.

Sebreg..thank you for your reply! Waiting to see someone is so frustrating..the ‘not knowing’ is difficult. I am so fatigued there is something going on, Lyme or otherwise and have outruled everything else?!

For resources on this constellation of diseases, I would recommend Stephen Buhner's website and books (herbal-based approaches, but also lots of good solid information on the infections). I also really like Dr Richard Horowitz's book "How Can I Get Better?" Both those resources can give you some ideas of various treatment strategies, and might provide insights into your own symptoms? I've also heard good things about Dr Neil Nathan's book "Toxic: Heal Your Body."

One thing I've found helpful is trying antimicrobials and gauging response. If you flare on particular antimicrobials it can be an indirect way of confirming underlying infections are playing a role in symptoms (provocation method). Given that the tests are often iffy, any direct or indirect evidence can be useful in getting a bit more clarity on one's situation.
