Thoughts on my test results from igenex and treatment?

I did the lyme immunoblot and it said negative for igm with positive band 31 and indeterminate for bands 23 and 41. Igg was igenex positive with bands 31 39 41 and 66 but cdc negative. My IFA was positive as well with 80. I also tested positive for babesia duncani igm and tick borne relapsing fever igg. Tested negative for bartonella and everything else. What do you guys think? I'm on doxy 200 mg a day for 30 days and have been on for a couple of weeks and 90 percent of my symptoms are gone. Which antibiotics do you guys think will really take care of it completely if it doesn't end up going away when the 30 days are up?

My symptoms now are light air hunger, muscle spasms, head pressure, internal vibrations and a prickling rash feeling all over my body when my temperature increases like when exercising for example. I had way more symptoms before but i started eating a bunch of garlic and most of them went away. What's weird is i had some of these same symptoms 5 years ago but they ended up going away with no treatment but they came back recently.

Glad you’re having results so early on in treatment. That is great!

I would recommend you get a LLMD so you can make sure you’ve treated appropriately.
For Babesia you will likely need something other than doxy - like Mepron or Malarone.

Thanks for the reply girlie. I heard that doxy also deals with parasites as well. Is that true? Also i read that if you get on mepron or something similar you have to treat it for 6 months. Is that true? Wouldn't that destroy your good bacteria and your gut? I'm in canada and i can get prescription drugs for free here so i would rather get them here than go to an llmd in the US. I know mepron is really expensive as well.

The length of time to treat isn’t based on the med you’re using.
If you have chronic Lyme/Babesia (Not a recent tick bite as in several weeks to a couple months ago) then Babesia takes minimum of a few months to treat.
Doxy may be effective in acute cases only.
Yes long term treatment can kill the good bacteria in your gut - you need to take probiotics - which you should be doing now anyway.

My blue cross didn’t cover the Mepron...unfortunately.

There are llnds in bc who treat with abx or herbals.
Alberta and Ontario also have options for treatiment.
A few more provinces do as well.

Word of caution: do not stop short ..ie undertreat these infections - you’re making good progress - continue until you are symptom free... and then some. Keep an eye on symptoms returning and if they do - go back on treatment ASAP.

Aren't there people who got better from doxy alone? Also what are your thoughts on IV cetfriaxone? Ive read that it is amazing for late stage lyme.

Yes - i know several people who got better from doxy alone - but they were recent infections...caught it within days or weeks.

Chronic lyme - doxy alone won't cut it.

IV abx are warranted sometimes...but most people don't need them. If someone has gut issues and can't tolerate the iv abx...or if they have 'critical structures' being affected (per Dr. J in DC) - then it's recommended.
lyme induced ALS - usually needs IV abx.

So, how long have you had symptoms?

My symptoms started up again sometime last year. But i first experienced my first symptoms about 6 years ago which was air hunger. Would it be better to get on the IV antibiotics to clear it up quicker? I don't have any issues when i take the doxy.

But is it really chronic if i never treated it until now? I thought its chronic if treatment doesn't work. Have you tried IV cextriaxone?

No, chronic means an older infection. My first symptoms started in 2013. Didn't treat until over a year later.
It's chronic.
Also, you have nervous system involvement - which generally means chronic.

No, I haven't tried any IV abx. I'm traveling too far for that to be practical. I live on the West coast and travel across the continent for a LLMD on the East coast of the U.S.
Also, the LLMD didn't think I needed them.

Do you know if the head pressure symptom is from lyme or babesia? Its a 247 pressure thay can be mild but gets more intense for a few seconds and then goes back to being mild.
