Chlorella is a binder and the recommendation for binders is to take them away from supplements (and food too, ideally). In Toxic by Neil Nathan he says this of chlorella:
"Best taken on an empty stomach, 2 hours before or after eating."
He also says:
"Use 'glass-grown' chlorella; 'natural' chlorella is often grown outdoors in ponds and, as a binder of toxin, may contain excessive amounts of arsenic and aluminum."
