CD57 T-nk flow cytometry analysis positive abnormal genpath

Just had labs done last week. In the past the CD57 lab was done by Labcorp(HNK1 panel). But now it appears Dr is having it done by GenPath lab and it's called t-nk cd57 flow cytometry analysis. The result was positive and the word `abnormal` in the comments. This is useless to me. The is an attachment I can't see so maybe when printed lab report shows up I'll see numerical references.

Anyway has anyone had this CD57 test done by GenPath and if so can you tell me if your results included the CD8-CD57 abs lymp number or just the words positive/abnormal. Those words mean nothing, on Labcorp results I get a percentage and absolute number I can compare to past cd57 tests.

I did a search on GenPath here but no matches. Will try again, maybe I'm not spelling something correctly.

Yep need numerical value to put in a range.

Positive means nothing here.

Nurse was nice enough to get back to me. CD57 Abs is 32 and percentage is 0.58 .

Guess that consistent with how poorly I have been feeling. My CD57 a year or so ago had got up to 160 about. We don't take it very often. So my results so far are

2014 - 55
2015 - 68
2017 - 160
2019 - 32

Waiting for more lab results

Nurse confirmed they are using GenPath instead of Labcorp. But she sent the lab report today and they use the same reference ranges as labcorp.

Lab corp droped the cd57 from their offering last year. Their lab/product code was something like HN1K.

Quest stopped it too.

Had mine done at the local hospital and they put it on dry ice and sent it to colorado national jewish labs (the right place to do this).

Get your white blood cells level tested, as this is a part of it.

WBC was also tested as part of the cd57 at GenPath. It was very low but still in range. This was not part of past Labcorp tests. Thank you for sharing Labcorp dropped cd57, i did not know this. Very sad, hard enough patients trying to find answers and they drop a test that can be a clue.

Had my dr not run the cd57 as a final, last chance test to find something, i would still be looking...or dead.

What seems to have changed since I last focused on this test is reference to CD3 instead of CD8. Not sure what significance of this test change is to results.

from that link........." CD57 markers can also be given to other kinds of cells, including T-cells. This makes it important to distinguish between CD57+ T-cells and CD57+ NK cells. You would think it wouldn’t happen but many testing laboratories claiming to perform the CD57 test are actuallylooking at CD57+ T-cells – rather than CD57+ NK cells! It is the CD57+ NK cells that relate to chronic Lyme disease!

The standard normal range for the absolute CD57 NK count is 60 to 360 cells per microliter of blood. This wide range was established based upon test results of hundreds of healthy patients. By these laboratory standards, a test result below 60 cells per microliter would be considered below normal and therefore associated with chronic Lyme disease. However, a recent study suggests that 100 cells per microliter might be a more reliable threshold separating Lyme patients and healthy controls.(3)..."

NOTE: Just remember many people get relieved of lyme symptoms and still have low CD57. This appears to be immune system damage. And lyme is not the only thing that can lower it, although many lyme sites have a biased opinion stating otherwise.

FWIW - I just got the CD57 test from Quest in February. However, if I recall correctly, our office said there were limited Quest labs who would do it now. Just a FYI that we recently got the CD57 done through Quest.

Good to know. The issue was handling/sending with dry ice. I just test the individual immune cells now, easier to get done.

Other results today

Just found out today my IgG subclass 2 is low (other immune within range). Cd57 at 32. Other virals (EBV, CMV, HHV6) and myco.
