A friend I email with (who is also on this site) found a functional medicine doctor in my area who is one of the only doctors who talks about Acrodermatitis Chronica Atrophicans (ACA) with Lyme Disease.

It takes years to develop into the atrophic phase that leaves your skin with crepe lines, loss of subcutaneous fat, loss of weight and much more. I've spoken with doctors who had no idea what it is, which surprised me. It is, I believe, what I have been dealing with for years and have thought that for at least 6 years now.

But this particular doctor in my area wrote an article in 2015 about treating a patient for ACA. Thanks to my friend on this site, I read the story and particulars on the doctor. I contacted the doctor's office last week to make an appointment.

It turns out HE NO LONGER TREATS LYME DISEASE BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS HE HAD WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES AND "THE MEDICAL FIELD."

Brought this up because it is another example of how ignorance in the medical and political worlds costs us all that are dealing with Lyme Disease. Another shame, disgrace and lost chance to receive better answers than I have gotten for so many years. I am sickened by this and all I have read about similar situations.

So sorry, I was so hoping the doctor could help. Our healthcare system is a mess!

Sorry to read this running wild.


It’s been almost 5 years since my diagnosis and not much has changed really...it makes me sick.

Many lyme patients in my location went to LLMD MR in Seattle - and he recently closed his practice due to investigations.
It left a lot of patients without a doc - scrambling to find another and travelling further afield (many go to California now)
Families with several members with lyme are losing everything - financially -

Things are falling apart for sure. I can no longer do "outside kits" in any of the clinics near me. There is only one place that I know of in my state that does them now. Also, my large "big business" clinic no longer does testing for things like MTHFR genetic mutations because they were being "over tested" (which is what my doctor told me was their sad reasoning). It's truly becoming ridiculous.

They are making it extremely difficult to get well. I imagine more and more people are going to self treat because they literally have no other choice.

This needs to change. Like yesterday.

Holy cow! I had not heard that before. I never even got the testing that I should have done because I was being tight with my money, thinking I could get well without doing it.

Are they trying to kill us?
