Tested positive for bartonella!!

I'm so happy I just got my results from Galaxy Labs showing positive results for bartonella henselae and quintana!! I've been seeing a LLMD who's been treating my lyme and babesia for the past 8 months but I haven't seen any improvement at all. I've been very worried that I was just going to be that 5% that never got better.

My only symptom is chronic insomnia and it never made much sense to me that was the only symptom with lyme and babesia. But having bartonella tests come back positive finally makes sense since this one is primarily known to be associated with sleep problems!!

Now the question is what do we do from here.

Rifampin, mino, and Alinia would be a good start.

Well, it's still good that you tackled babesia...as it could have ended up being in the way of bart treatment.

So, now you're ready to tackle bart.

Rifiampin and mino as tickbite mentioned is a standard treatment.
And even stronger is Rifabutin with mino.

I am currently taking Rifabutin, Ceftin and mino PLUS Flagyl two days per month.

The fluoroquinolone are supposedly the best treatment...BUT they do come with a few black box warnings...so some of us (me included) won't take them.

Many people do take the fluoroquinolones with no issues...but I wouldn't be able to without freaking out over every little symptom that mimicked the symptoms of damage they can do.

Bartonella is a stubborn infection that is hard to get rid of. I got a positive PCR test after more than a year of abx.

I found minocycline effective, but rifampin less so. I've never heard of alinia (nitazoxanide) being used for bart.

I just got the same results for bartonella today in the mail. I also have positive Lyme. I’m very new to all of this and won’t be seeing an llmd until July 1st in Washington, D.C.

Thanks for input. Has anyone had experience with herbal route? My LLMD doesnt prescribe antibiotics.

Also, my test was IFA igg, and from what I'm seeing it doesnt distinguish between past and present infections.... sigh. So another round of guessing games again? But I did have 4x higher titer 1:256 compared to reference range of 1:64 so hopefully that's some indication of an active infection. Ugh I hate these tests.

I hear you about testing, cppoly - it's terribly frustrating and inadequate. I assume you still have symptoms of bartonella, though, or you would not be looking into it? If you're having symptoms, then I'd say it's best to treat.

There are lots of non-pharm options for bartonella. The Buhner protocol has many fans, and also Byron White Formulas and Beyond Balance blends. Rife and other resonant frequency devices can be helpful as well. Hope you find something that works well for you! What does your LLMD recommend?

zhang hh2 and their allicin put a big dent in my stubborn bart...kinda pricey at full dose yet effective...
