Suppliments that work for healing nerves?

Similar posts in the past, but new people= new ideas.

********Anyone try nerve supplements that had an actual effect on nerve healing?********

Lot of history:

In my journey of fixing past muscle damage, I cant ignore the fact that I had pinched nerves in the past too. The major stuff was from years of acute two wheeled injuries (pedal and motor wipe outs) coupled with healing issues while having lyme. Fore the last two years, I have been successfully reversing the muscle damage in reverse order of what happened from 5 to 30 years ago.

In the distant past, I had the typical lyme body "buzzing" and carpel tunnel too. This went way, but my reflexes stayed kind of slow and stiff in the AM, I've always felt looser and more relaxed late afternoon on-wards. I currently workout more aggressively than ever (evenings), so this also contributes to morning stiffness, slow movement.

I've learned a lot about rejuvenating muscle health, but ignore nerve health. One foot still tightens up while standing after 20 minutes, walking helps/will make it go away. That seems to be mechanical and nerve in nature. That leg felt hot when crouching/kneeling for a year after a major crash.

MRI of spine show nothing major (had 4 in 15 years), but typical somewhat degenerative / worn areas (many people over 30 have that). I had major low back/pinched nerve pain 12 years ago which was the source of my hot leg. Keeping my spine muscles stronger now, helped this heal 50% before lyme treatment, 90% after.

I've tried a few nerve health combo supplements that didnt do anything. I had high b6 with lyme (bad for nerves), thats normal now.

Oh, I forgot about Lions Mane (another Buhner recommended herb) for healing the myelin sheath.

I think most antibiotics are okay after expiration...but not minocycline (and maybe doxy as well - the entire class of tetras?) They don't just lose potency...they can be toxic (according to what I read).


Thing is, I never have expiration dates on my antibiotics. Not sure why that is - I even asked the pharmacist once...and he didn't have a good reason.

When I told this to the NP at the J. clinic...she was horrified and said she wouldn't take any meds without an expiration date.

What can i say - it's how we roll up here.... but it does cause me some concern especially if I'm taking the minocycline.

Astroman- I've been looking into nerve protectors and regenerators for my brother who has ALS. here is what I have come up with:
Ginkgo biloba = possible nerve regeneration. Many in vivo studies in mice that have shown some nerve regeneration.
Buhner's recommendations for remyelination of the nerves myelin sheath = Red Sage, Cats Claw, Ashwaganda, and Boneset (p. 218 of healing lyme).

The toxicity issues with expired Tetra class abx has proven to be a myth.

I can say red sage didn't do anything for me though I only tried one brand. Cat's Claw helps, but not my neuro. Knotweed has been the most effective overall supplement for me. It keeps my neuro symptoms from being out of control but it doesn't seem like it quite goes there in large amounts to finish it off. I get massive herxes in my joints and muscles followed by almost total remission. But my peripheral neuropathy has kind of lingered. Sida and cryptolepis gave me massive neuroherxes but it seems like the disease went dormant because they stopped causing herxes even at 4 times the dose and i never improved (and this darn thing is far from dead). Ashwagandha hasn't done anything for me either. Neither has Gou Teng. I tried lions mane a long time ago with no luck, but that was before I knew it was Lyme. Without treating the cause I'm not surprised that it didn't help.

So that's mostly what i've tried. In my personal experience the only thing that has helped my disease even a little is antibacterials. No antiinflammatories or neuroprotective herbs or whatever have done anything. The antibacterials work very well for me and all symptoms appear to resolve after a little die off. But I haven't yet found many that appear active in the nervous system. St. Johns Wort is supposedly antibacterial and used for neurological diseases and also helps regrow nerves. Hoffman considers it a "moderate" antibacterial so i don't know how much it extends to Lyme. I may try it down the road. But in the world of herbalism that is another staple nerve supplement.

Wish I had more answers. This is one i've been trying to figure out for a while as it is the only symptom that won't abate. And every time I stop treating it's always the first to flare. So I know the little b***** are hiding out there

royal jelly has crazy amounts of acetylcholine ...ive eaten kilos and its helped a lot ...phoshytadylecholine via iv with loads of efa fish oil and mcts etc has helped with mass amounts of biotin ...

It is a chemical which is made by the body. Research shows that it may reverse aging. There is also hope in regeneration of heart damage.

I have been taking this for the last 15 months. Don't notice any difference, but then again I believe that this works very, very slowly. This reverses damage to the dna, repairs the telomears of the dna.

Check it out. For a buck a day I can afford to gamble on it.

Internal vibrations can be so many things. The nervous system is not the same as physical nerves them selves. The endo system is part of that too, thyroid and cortisol levels..........and gut health. My internal vibrations are gone now, also thyroid, adrenal, anxiety, gut health are now all under control , stable, and are all related.

I think it was all of what I mentioned combined, plus what I forget - SLEEP.. The body as a whole cant be ignored.

But if you have anxiety with vibrations, Id say adrenal (and thyroid) with lack of sleep are big players.

Back to my original post from 2018..........is there any new proven supps that help regenerate physical nerves? Not the nervous system, but the nerve tissue itself.

I have nerve impingement in a few locations which I can temp relieve with trigger point release. This constant physical pressure on a few nerves is not good.

Tried a few from the supp store a few years ago that were specifically for nerves and did nothing. Most had synthetic B6, well too much is actually bad for nerves.

I am going to try a few on here listed from 2018 that I never got to. I have started ashwagonda two months ago, for cortisol management and I see its for nerves too.
