Dad bit by a tick in VA

So my 75 year old dad was visiting relatives in VA and got bit by a tick a few days ago. No bullseye rash or anything. I told him he should go to the urgent care to get doxy just in case. Am I being overly cautious being he has no rash or symptoms other than it's a little swollen at the bite site? I am not sure they will even give him doxy but of course I don't want to risk it!

He is fatigued but he's also 76 years old and he's always fatigued when he gets back from trips to VA. No headaches or anything...

He should take a few weeks of doxy.

Tick testing is almost 100% reliable, and a lot cheaper than medical care, it's too bad more people aren't aware of the option.

Given it was a tick and in Virginia, if it were me, there's no question I'd take antibiotics as a precaution. There are so many things ticks can carry, of course, Lyme is only one possibility.

Following a bite, once that brief window of time is gone, one doesn't get a second chance to go back in time and take antibiotics and have the same effect.

Again, this is just my non-medical opinion. Had I never been bitten myself, I may have had a different opinion.
