Burning on Tops of Feet & Toes

For weeks now, I have had intermittent burning on the tops of my feet and toes.

Mold? MCAS? ????

I’ve heard of burning in bottoms of feet but not tops. Anybody else ever had this?

Because of the timing, I am wondering if it’s mold.

I get that. At this moment. Mostly At night burning on top of toes and sometimes bottoms. I think coinfection. Or genetic, as my mom gets and it's not mold for her.

I have burning sensations A LOT. I associate it with many things - toxins stirring up in tissue, mold exposure, chemical sensitivities, bartonella or Lyme.

Each trigger usually has its own presentation, which is why I differentiate the causes like that. The burning on tops of feet and toes is a new one, as far as I can remember. It’s slightly similar to the electrical pains in the tips of fingers and toes that I think is mold or bart.

I had electrical pains recur recently, too, most likely because of mold exposure. I know the CIRS information identifies with electrical pains. If you read and buy into all the CIRS information by Shoemaker and Shoemaker certified doctors, you will see that a lot of symptoms that others attribute to bartonella, they contribute to CIRS/mold.

Makes things very difficult to decipher. Even Shoemaker made a comment somewhere about striae (bart streaks) seemingly implying that it’s not definitively bartonella because CIRS affects VEGF. That makes no sense to me, because bartonella supposedly can cause high VEGF, while CIRS causes low VEGF.

That quote by Shoemaker in response to someone asking if he tests for bartonella:
“I will test for Bartonella, understanding that as many as 28 species might be pathogenic in dogs. I see no good diagnostic tests as yet. VEGF and striae are no help in my cohorts.”

Sharp pains that feel like electricity zaps usually in the ends of fingers or toes.

Actually that is not an accurate description. It’s not just a millisecond zap. It comes on suddenly and sharp and then fades in and out very briefly and goes away.

The only one flagged as low by the lab was Vit C. Range was 10 - 200. Mine was .39.

B-12 and B-6 were right in the middle of the comparison graph, which surprised me. I had not supplemented B-12 at all but was supplementing B-6. I think I only had one blood test for B12 three years ago. It was the bottom end of the lab range. My doctor said no one should have B12 that low and was disgusted that the lab “normal range” was set so low. I think she said the US was the only country that set it that low.

My NAC was Zero, and I take 1200mg 2x day.

Biotin was .70, which was in lab range but below on the comparison graph.

I don’t see Vit E or niacin on the OAT.

I still don’t understand those results. I don’t understand if the results are indicating whether you have sufficient levels of these or if they reflect whether your body is able to utilize them or what. Not clear to me. This is a urine test, not blood, so it is measuring by products and metabolites, right?

Just wanted to add that high B6 can also cause neuropathy - nerve damage.

I found that out after my B6 was tested with the J Clinic. I had been supplementing with the methylated B's.

It was at that point that I did a bit of research and found out not just low...but high B6 can cause it too.

I've listened to a couple of extended interviews with him and found him to be quite interesting. Years ago, he came close to dying, after being afflicted with Dengue Fever.

I tried to become a patient of his, earlier this year, but he was closed to new patients at the time. The office said it would be 2-3 months before they would be accepting new patients. I think that was about four months ago.

Anyway, I don't know if you're even interested in adding another doctor to the mix, but I thought I'd mention him.

I would say bartonella. It is hard on the feet - including the nerves.

Does anyone notice that their burning sensations increase with anxiety? I attribute mine to the Lyme, Bart and heavy metals but definitely notice an increase or longer duration when I am anxious. Mine is mainly on the top of my left hand and forearm and my right foot pretty consistently.

No. I notice the opposite. The burning triggers anxiety, irritability, and rage for me. Like right now. I’m sitting on an outdoor pavilion outside the grocery store trying to get fresh air instead of being stuck in my moldy car or in a moldy building. There’s no one else out here, and yet because of the wonderful hard breeze, I’m constantly getting hit with fragrance from people walking through the parking lot. The fragrance causes burning pain and inflammation, which triggers anxiety, irritability, and rage.

It's a horrible cycle, it works both ways for me as well. I just have to remind myself that it is a symptom and not necessarily a permanent condition otherwise the fear gets the best of me. I try to distract myself and get out of my head.
