Anyone bought antibiotics from Mexico?

Hi guys.

Curious if anyone has.

Naively, I always thought antibiotics etc., bought in Mexico were manufactured in CAD or US.

I've since learned they are manufactured in Mexico.

So I then read a few articles on the risks of taking antibiotics from Mexico or other countries.

They listed hypotheticals, Weaker efficacy potential, Mild - severe side effect potential due to "possibly" using different chemical ingredients when processing. That type of thing.

These were are articles dissuading the use of antibiotics bought in other countries. (I try to find ALL sides of any given subject I'm researching.) And of course why would the FDA or Health Canada promote using anything from somewhere else, so I didn't find impartial information on the other side. I did find some discussion forums of people getting antibiotics cheaper from Mexico, to use for their pets. Saw a few discussion where they were purchased for themselves. I found "some" random though rather vague information, when I added "forums" to the end of my search in google.

That said, I've got nothing on more specific personal experiences.

Anybody have any they would kindly share?

I am in Canada, but have a top USA Lyme doc that was audited by the medical board. (The usual attack against Lyme MD's, nothing new there is it,) So he had to step away from his practice thinking he'd lose his medical license. However, he passed his audit therefore is still licensed and going to return to practice, but there is no set date yet. I'm on the last of the scripts he gave me. But will restart under his care when he returns and I have hired an interim Lyme practitioner in the meantime. Meaning I'm covered. (Plus I use herbs in conjunction.)

However, I'm curious as I had a friend recently purchase antibiotics from Mexico for me, just as a safety precaution. I did this not knowing my LLMD was being audited because I thought he'd in fact lost his license. So now my Mexico antibiotics are just sitting there. I have no need to use them at present as I am covered as said. They're a backup if in a precarious situation needing them, but have no access to scripts. But I am wary due to where they were manufactured.

That's the motive to my question.

According to my research most prescription medication is made in China and India. The problem with this is that the FDA doesn't inspect these manufacturing plants as often as they should. If anyone is interested in learning more about this problem you can listen to the Diane Rehm show (link below) or read the transcript. It is dated 2014 so I don't know if anything has changed since then.

I have bought lots from Mexico. Some made in Mx and some not. I have never had one that I noticed giving me bad side effects or not working. I have always bought human meds and not veterinary ones. Some pharmacies ask for a prescription and some don’t...or they sometimes try to cover their ass so they can play dumb if I am an agent of some kind. They will say no to my first request like if I ask for Amoxicillina they will say I need a prescription. One minute later I ask if they have Cefuroxima, they will say yes no problem. Kind of weird. The small pharmacies that are not chains don’t usually care and will sell u anything.

I have mail ordered meds from India, Mexico, Europe but to a USA address. They have always worked well.

We have a lot of Sandoz brand drugs in Canada that come from Mexico.

GREAT personal experience information thankyou. So you've purchased a lot from abroad. Yes, the woman that got my antibiotics in Mexico informed me some wanted scripts some not, so purchased all from those that didn't require them. She couldn't bring them all back at once as I bought a lot, but since she was already down south US wintering and crossed US / Mexico border for her pharma needs, she kindly added extra trips to bring all of mine across in about 4 trips.

Okay, I'm feeling much more relieved. Cuz my Sporonax here is $400+ monthly. I bought a lot from Mexico. So...that's a huge savings then.

Ive bought both my ABX and anti-parasitic medication from Mexico, Canada, Russia and India and have nothing but good things to say.

The drugs from Mexico and Canada were identical to the drugs I got from the US and at a fraction of the cost (sometimes 5% of the same cost in the US). In many cases, the drugs came in the *exact* same containers/boxes that they did in the states. For example, my Tinidazole from Mexico came in a Pfizer box completely in english and wasnt even a generic. It may have been made in Mexico, but was a completely legit American company!

Canada requires a prescription, but most other countries do not.
