What are best supplements to eliminate candida/yeast in the digestive track?

I have tried different things over the time I have had lyme - first flagyl, then pau d'arco and caprylic acid, I found out too that oregano oil will wipe all bacteria out of the gut. I am not up to date on what would be the best. All 3 have worked for me. You have to stay on a low carb, anti candida diet and take probiotics at the same time.
What I did find is that until you get your general health in order the candida will come back you have to stay on top of it the whole time with diet, and probiotics and whatever herbals you choose.

My LLMD gave me an oregano oil pill which I have been on for about 6 months and it dose seem to work but now hearing what Aussie said about it whiping out all of your good bacteria with the bad, I am wondering if I should switch to somthing else? Hopefully some other people have suggestions.

I rotate between Rx Nystatin and NOW brand Candida Support.

Look up and google the herbal mixture in NOW brand Candida Support. There is no best one, need to alternate.

When / if those no longer work, then its RX time. This has been debated here much in the past. If its actual Candida Albicans (can test it) Diflucan works better for most than nystatin.

Is candida albicans diagnosed by a stool test?

Are there any non RX sources of nystatin?

the question of the thread is funny. candida is a comensal of human skin and flora. what ingedients do you plan to use to remove your skin? lol

you simply CANNOT eliminate candida from your gut. there are no humans living on earth without some candida in their intestines. im not even sure it is healthy to live without candida, it cleans the gut and eats dead intestinal tissues. very helpful.

what u need is
- adjust your nutrition so it does not overgrow - eat less sugars and carbs
- fix your immune system - treat lyme, HIV, or what ever is wrecking your defences. candida is perfectly harmless to healthy people.

mpost - do you not recommend (for those of us on long term abx) taking “rounds” of diflucan?

I don’t have a white tongue -but part of my protocol with the J clinic is two days of diflucan each month...

It’s when there’s an overgrowth - that it becomes a problems


Isn’t that how it is with C. difficile?
Most of us have it - but when we have an overgrowth - then we get symptoms.

I agree it's debatable. I don't necessarily believe that nystatin should be so easily dismissed. Do you have any references to your claim that "Diflucan works better for most than nystatin"? Not trying to be argumentative. Just wondering if you actually have stats/references on that or whether that's more your opinion/observation?

Yes, my own experiences several times and others posts from 3-4 years ago here. And my LLMD. Good to try nystain, and good to know diflucan prob will work better as plan B.

If I remember right 1000daisies, you had another form of yeast(?).

What a comment. Nothing funny about it. Not talking about total elimination here. Candida overgrowth is real, can be miserable and its measurable by a conventional medicine Quest blood test. Sometimes oral; thrush will also result. If you've never had it don't doubt it, and feel lucky. Even though ABX wipes out bacteria, it seems to pave the way for yeast overgrowth.

Once it gets out of control, its hard to get back under control.

They can be one in the same. Yeast overgrowth due to a weakened immune system can cause leaky gut which can cause food sensitivities.

Any thoughts on probiotics as related to using products like allicin and caprylic acid to kill the overgrowth? Should probiotics be taken at the same time or should I space them out?

I used Thorne Research formula SF722 (You can get it on iherb), and it helped the most of about anything I've tried. Grapefruit seed extract is also good—it will basically kill anything in your digestive tract.

I would take them separately if possible. I believe last thing at night and upon waking are the best times for probiotics because your digestive tract is at its slowest

Hi everyone, I just purchased NOW brand Candida support and I was just wondering if I should take this supplement everyday or every other day? Also should I take it until my symptoms disappear or longer? Thanks for your help!

You might need a binder—I'm not sure. A good one is diatomaceous earth. I've heard that it helps with candida, and absorbs aluminum and toxins in your digestive tract.
