Buhner recommends Chinese Skullcap to remodulate cytokines. Considering adding to my protocol.

Anyone see any benefits from this herb? What dosage?

I've tried to whittle down my herbs and supplements lately and this seems to be an important herb for me. Whenever I stop taking it I begin to feel worse (more fatigued) and I have trouble sleeping.

I take the Dan Shen/Red Sage as well but I am less certain of it's effectiveness for me. Dosage for both herbs is 1/2tsp 3x daily

Yes! Yes! Yes! My favorite herb. I take the max dosage of that one and wish I could take more.

I used to take this in a combo with danshen and later got them separately. I found I have a hard time with danshen and take small dose of it, while I need large doses of skullcap.

Skullcap has really helped with my neuro issues, specifically with memory, thought retention, brain fog, etc. I take 20 drops 2x day.

Thanks potsnpans, walkingbyfaith, and Milocat (Milo and Otis may be the greatest comedy team ever)

My current herbal tincture protocol
2.0 ml Andrographis 3x day
2.0 ml Japanese knotweed 3x day
2.0 ml Cat's Claw 3x day
2.0 ml Chinese Cat's Claw 3x day
2.0 ml DanShen Red Sage 3x day
2.25 ml Boswellia 3x day
Since a tsp is 5 ml, it works out to a little over a teaspoon of each per day.
I could hold the others steady and try to work up to 2.5 ml/3x/day with the chinese skullcap. That would be potsnpans dosage. I also am concerned about overload, so I'd have to go slow.
Any side effects from skullcap?

Buhner says side effects are rare; mostly gastric discomfort and diarhea. Don't take if pregnant. Type 1 diabetes be careful because it can affect insulin.

There are many interactions with other herbs and drugs/abx. It is considered a "synergist" potentiating the actions of many other agents. It has some sort of effect on how the liver processes some of these things. Avoid Tylenol while taking it.

I don't think herxing directly from this herb is a concern

My experience with it says, Yes. I then increased the dose with caution and gained benefit from taking it.

iirc boswellia might be part of Cowden, not sure tho

Buhner recommends Boswellia for Arthritis, p227 Healing Lyme, second edition, Expanded protocol for Lyme Arthritis.

Boswellia has been part of my overall improvement. Not sure what it does outside Buhner's protocol.

(@JovaLyme) Boswellia: I looked at Buhner's book. If you don't have arthritis from Lyme, I don't see how Boswellia will help. The coming of the 3 wise men (astrologers) is an interesting Middle Eastern story, but I don't think it has anything to do with Lyme disease. If your symptoms are mainly neuro, advise taking something else.

If you have a link for that study Boswellia study, I'd like to read it. Buhner's research is thorough. He makes no mention of boswellia killing anything and no mention of myrrh.

Thanks. Interesting study on eliminating encysted Lyme. These essential oils were added directly to the test tube. Have you seen any study on how these essential oils survive digestive system action and enter the bloodstream?

Chinese Skullcap: I am up to 1.25ml 3x/day. Less muscle pain, but more fatigue. Really need to get up to 2.50ml 3x/day to see full benefit.

Chinese skullcap has also been associated with lung complications, and other types — including the American variety — may cause side effects like irregular heartbeat, tics, anxiety, drowsiness, and mental confusion in some people

I am definitely experiencing the drowsiness. I suppose drug is great if you need a sedative.

Anyone know if the drowsiness passes?

Discontinued today. I got up to 1.5ml 3x/day and felt drugged, like I had taken a sedative.

Still taking boswellia. 2.0ml 3x/day. Buhner recs boswellia as anti-inflammatory for arthritis.

Chinese skullcap is a huge disappointment, but I can't function on a downer like that. Full dose is 2.5ml 3x/day. I was still 3ml short of full dose and couldn't think straight.
