What would be a case of something unreal?

Rather than reading the "A Course in Miracles" ("ACIM") text, I'm listening to the audio version. According to what I've heard, thus far, anything that changes is unreal. Also, anything that's based in hate, fear, judgement, etc. It states that knowledge is real and perception is unreal.

The Text is over 600 pages and there's also a Workbook for Students, a Manual for Teachers, and a Clarification of Terms. So, in total, among all those resources, there must be over 1,000 pages. Thus, it would be difficult to accurately and succinctly summarize the essence of the course -- especially a novice like me.

Without getting into the details of my background and perspective, I'll just say this is one of the few "spiritual" texts that have made any difference or sense to me. I've heard it stated that ACIM is really simple -- but that it takes the hundreds upon hundreds of pages to support the introductory concept that:

"Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God."

The idea being, I guess, that we over-complicate things and need to be taught things in excruciating detail for us to, eventually, realize just how simple it really was. That's my interpretation, anyway.

I was in an ACIM study class for a few months, and one day I said to the facilitator, "This seems like the same thing that they said, a few pages back . . ." And she said, yes, the book "repeats the same things over & over." There's something about the human psyche/ego that cannot accept these teachings (prob. because our conditioning is so pervasive). And so we have to hear them presented to the mind over & over again in different examples. I do believe that passage you quoted is the entire essence of the book. And agreed--any phenomena that changes form or passes, ultimately is not real. Nondualist, Advaita Vedanta, and teachers like Eckhart Tolle say this same thing.
