Babesia symptoms?

Last month after replacing Flagyl with Tindamax I started having more frequent night sweats that intensified this month. I also sweat underarms during day, sweat profusely during exercise. This is not a new symptom I had it since the tick bite in 1971, on intermittent basis. It got worse with recurring symptoms of Lyme in last 10 years. However, I attributed them to menopause. I have also shortness of breath (it is not asthma; I was checked for it) and I sigh a lot. I am also more emotional recently despite taking mood modulators (SAME, L-Tryptophan, lithium orate). I am wondering if those could be subdued Babesia symptoms? Have you experienced something similar?

Background information
I’ve been treated for Lyme, Bartonella, Erlihia, and EBV for more than a year. First with herbals (monolaurin, olive leaf extract, and samento), last 9 months with combination of antibiotics and herbals, last 6 months a combination of 3 antibiotics (Bactrim, Rifampin, and Flagyl, later Clindamycin, Rifampin and Flagyl, last month Clindamycin, Rifampin, and Tindamax, and this month Doxycycline, Rifampin and Tindamax). I’ve got better, a lot of symptoms are gone, last month was definitely my best, my LLND was considering pulsing of antibiotics in December.

Canfossi, this is interesting, I yawn a lot starting afternoon, I thought it was not enough sleep. I am going to my LLND in two weeks, I will see what she says. I posted the questions on this forum to see what symptoms other people with diagnosed Babesia had. Thank you for your input!

Also forgot to mention low hemoglobin with Babesia. What ever you do, don't take supplemental iron as it will feed the Babesia. Learned this from experience.

Girlie, from reading this forum I know that you've being treated for Lyme for quite long time. Have you been treated for Babesia as well? If so, do you think it is Babesia that is keeping you from getting well?

I did not have any Babesia symptoms until I targeted Babesia with rife, and then what I assume was a herx familiarized me with how awful it is! For the air hunger, I purchased a pulse oximeter; it does not make the symptom go away, but it reassured me that my body is in fact getting adequate oxygen, even when i feel like I'm not getting enough air. I experienced anxious crawling-out-of-my-skin feelings, neck pain, and a bad headache. So in my experience, those were my Babesia symptoms. Sounds to me like your meds might be hitting Babesia.

Sounds like babesia (particularly the air hunger). I didn't start making strides until babesia was first treated (mepron or malarone).

It may have a weaker effect - experienced llmd’s usually (never?) don't use that combo for Babesia.
Mepron... malarone.. are the usual treatments...
Coartem... Alinia are sometimes used.

Sweating is one symptom - i wouidnt dismiss it because you don’t sweat “enough”

Girlie, is it worth trying to add something herbal for Babesia in order to see if I will a reaction? I just don't see enough progress after almost a year.

With my first doc I wasn’t thoroughly treated for Babesia. (He did prescribe Artesunate but that usually isn’t enough )

Then after plateauing with that lyme doc and messing around on my own for over a year - I decided to go to DrJ’s clinic.
I was prescribed Mepron plus abx for about 5 months.
Then went on Alinia with the Bartonella/Persisters protocol.

After several months on the bart/persisters I went to maintenance - taking meds only 4 days a month.
This is to allow the immune system to kick in.

I had a symptom free day a week ago Saturday - first time ever. (This was after herxing Friday night)
Celebration was cut short when symptoms came roaring back first thing Sunday.
I’ve called the clinic to help me figure this out.
Do I need to stick with the program... (abx 4 days a month) longer or go back to something more aggressive???

We haven’t used Alinia. Girlie can you tell me what it treats? And what was your response to it? Thanks!

I have had the "air hunger" symptom since about a month or two after I got Lyme in June 2013. But strangely I have had the night sweats very rarely like 1 or 2 nights per year if any. I've had 60 days session with sida and crypto in 2016, then in 2019 and the start of 2020. No dice. I would like to think it helped from getting worse at least (trying to be positive). Hard to get proper treatment for chronic Lyme and co here. Malarone and Mepron and not even sold in my country. I was tested negative for Babesia in 2014. And now with Covid-19 this air-hunger is really stressing and I have really bad days lately.

Bidens pilosa ( along with Cryptolepis and Sida Acuta) is part of Buhner’s Babesia protocol.
