Severe eye pain and visual disturbances worsening

I think it wouid be a good idea.
Make sure you get the Visual Fields test.

Also have them look at the optic nerve.

Yeah, severe eye problems, lyme related/similar to ms symptoms, lost vision in right eye very little recovery. So many floaters in left eye they want to do a vitrectomy (drain and replace ocular fluid).
Things that I believe have helped my vision stabilize:
MSM eye drops relieve external pain, feel good soothing
Minocycline
NAC
Lutein 40mg Puritans Pride 2-3x daily
B12 methyl subcutaneous
Antihistamines

I was on high dose prednisone after the sudden loss, in hindsight I would add an antihistamine. I did add minocycline, as I had read it was neuroprotective.

I'm open to new ideas on the vision issues

What are your other symptoms these days? From your past posts, it looks like you did some treatment for Babesia and herxed from it. Have you done any treatment for Lyme or Bartonella?

Lyme, Bartonella, EBV, and mold exposure all can mess with your eyes in the ways you describe. Adrenal issues also can play a role in photophobia, weirdness with lights, and retinal edema. It would be good to have an Optomap done or some other minimally-invasive inner eye imaging, so that you know what is going on within the eye itself. This can point you toward what the issue is and how to help. I know you have mentioned seeing a neurologist, but an ophthalmologist might be more helpful at figuring out which parts of the eye are affected and what might be helpful - they won't know about Lyme and co-infections, of course, but they can tell you if it's optic nerve inflammation, retinal edema, etc. so you know more about the problem and can address it.

I have vision loss from central serous chorioretinopathy. For me this is associated with spikes in cortisol caused early on in my Bartonella infection. My retinas both swelled, and while one resolved without damage, the other has retained some swelling that flares as other symptoms flare. (When it flares, I lose my central vision in that eye, and things are distorted, and my proprioception is messed up.)

I had a history of the other symptoms you mentioned (floaters, disturbances, outlines, lights...) associated with migraines for years; I know now that those migraines were three-day flares of my tick-borne infections.

I have a retinal specialist who actually knows that Bartonella is associated with eye disease, but she's more focused on the immediate cause of my issue, which is the cortisol spikes. Managing stress is helpful, though of course next to impossible sometimes with these illnesses! And adaptogenic herbs and anti-inflammatory supplements and diet. I have been warned that any steroid use could make my swollen retina much worse (even explode!) and though steroids are contraindicated with Lyme and some other infections, they have been recommended to me for other issues (leg paralysis from myositis) and I have had to make the choice to retain my vision at the expense of my mobility. My point here is that I'm glad I had the eye issue investigated so that I would know exactly what I was dealing with.

Also, there is a surgery that can correct some of the damage from my condition. It cannot be performed until the swelling is gone, but someday when I'm healthy again (crossing fingers) I am glad to have that possibility.

I know how terrifying it is to have one of your senses affected and damaged by these infections that are so difficult to manage. I'm so sorry you are still dealing with it. Maybe for the pain, in the mean time, try CBD or something else to make you more comfortable. Pain itself can be so depleting and allow inflammation and infections to flourish.
