I know some people have had to resort to repeated surgeries.
I started having chronic sinusitis and bronchitis a few years back--13 months nonstop. I went through at least 9 different courses of different antibiotics, which only made me worse (and also happened to trigger very Lyme, Babs and Bart-specific symptoms, which finally ended a 16+ year quest for diagnoses since I was finally able to get to an LLMD for treatment). So at least it was "productive".
But my sinus problems were a fungal issue, resolved in a matter of days with antifungal treatment.
Before taking a mechanical approach I would explore/exhaust environmental causes like mold, fungus, autoimmune. And as someone mentioned dairy and gluten are common sinus infection-causing triggers, or even simply an immune overreaction trigger. These foods are notorious for inflammation due to the damage that can be caused to the mucosal linings within our bodes, some caused by these foods, and the immune system's response to these foods, the way they are prepared, the chemicals used to grow and produce these foods.
Interesting concept about nerve pain and sinusitis--makes a lot of sense. Again, when I started taking antibiotics for the sinusitis and bronchitis, one which was often prescribed for Bart, I started experiencing a lot of really obvious Bart symptoms. I think low doses of abx (which are commonly prescribed for sinus infections) can really mess with your immune system.
