Lyme and Lupus, is there a connection?

Is there some kind of connection between Lyme disease and Lupus? Is Lyme disease misdiagnosed as Lupus or can you get Lupus is you have Lyme? We found out what the rash on my mother's legs/stomach is. It is called "livedo reticularis." I understand you can get this with Lyme, has anyone else had this mottling? Check out pictures on Google so you know what I am talking about. The Lyme needs to be treated, as the herbals aren't strong enough. We still can't get antibiotics. LLND says she needs antibiotics asap. Hope you can answer my questions, thanks.

I’ve had a livedo reticularis rash from Lyme, or more specifically I think it’s from Bartonella. Bart causes vasculitis, which can be misdiagnosed as Lupus. And Lyme is so often misdiagnosed I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of Lupus cases are actually the immune system going haywire from Lyme.

I’ve been treating with herbs since last July and I’m doing a lot better. You don’t always need antibiotics.

And the thing that brought out my livedo rash in the first place was when I took oregano oil and olive leaf capsules - this actually helped me get diagnosed for Lyme (I had been misdiagnosed with MS for years).

Just another question before I get to my reply. Does Amoxicillin kill bartonella? Well her LLND has been treating her with herbals and the pain never went away, even after a lot of detoxing. We thought it was all a herx reaction, which it was, but the pain continued for 6 months and became worse when she increased the dose of the herbals. The LLND has tried everything she had available to her. One note, when my mom had Amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times/day prescribed for 7 days by her family doctor, (for a UTI) the "lindo reticularis" diminished by about half, but it didn't with the herbals at all, (my mom does have bartonella). Her family doctor won't prescribe Amoxicillin again even though we told him numerous times that the rash was dimishing with the Amoxicillin. Now that the herbals have been stopped by the LLND, her pain is a lot less by about 50%, but we now know that the bacteria and co-infections are not being killed off which isn't good. Her LLND says that there is nothing more that she can do and that my mom needs antibiotics because her ESR and CRP have been increasing for months. I think they are around 90 now. Platelets (425) are increasing and creatinine (44) is going down. All the blood values I mentioned were all improving when she was on antibiotics.

The autoimmune ANA test in something that apparently (from here) lymies can test positive. Its a roller coaster with most, pos, neg, pos ,neg ect.

The test has a second step that some do if positive. Its like a strength or ratio or percent test of ANA, I dont remember the details. Since I was positive I did the second step and was not real high on it. Dr figured my Hashimoto triggers it.

Astroman did you treat your Lyme with IV antibiotics or oral antibiotics?
