Herb Shortage due to Coronavirus

There’s an herb shortage on some vital herbs and a backlog on orders by suppliers due to coronavirus. I have been slack due to being overwhelmed with other things and finally got around to placing an order just now.

Woodland Essence is out of a lot of herbs and is behind on orders. Sage Woman Herbs is not taking orders right now. Montana Farmacy has shut down their website for orders. Elk Mountain Herbs does have herbs. I just ordered large bottles of Chinese skullcap (Baikal skullcap), kudzu, and red root from them (WE is out of all of these). I also ordered some elacampane from them. It helps breathing and is in the CV kit, I think.

As to what astroman said, yes you may find stuff there, but regular people are probably flocking to those places, too. Shops like that often don’t have or even know about some of the herbs in Buhner’s protocols.

Chinese skullcap (Baikal skullcap)
Kudzu root
Red root
Danshen/Red sage

The above are needed in large amounts to deal with cytokines and acute illnesses like coronavirus. I would recommend buying either 4 or 8 oz bottles of those. Those are good herbs to have in your apothecary even if you don’t take them daily.

Cordyceps is in the CV protocol and is available at Elk Mountain. WE is sold out. You may or may not be able to find it on the store shelves.

Elacampane helps breathing and is in the protocol. I ordered some but have no prior experience with it.

Lomatium is the golden herb for influenza, although it’s not in the CV protocol. That’s another good one to have in the medicine cabinet in case of flu. Just be sure you read up on the warnings and take with other herbs, never alone to prevent the hives.

As always, check for contraindications especially if you are on Rx medications, blood thinners, or have special conditions. Red root is a coagulant. If you have thick blood or are on blood thinners, use Danshen/red sage in its place.

Regular people are buying herbal remedies right now for corona. ABX could slow only from shipping or manufacturing halts- sick employees ect.

Our local health food store doesn’t carry most of the lyme and co herbs.

They have Hawthorne and maybe cats claw

Hmm. I suppose. Mine does, but its it the real deal, also lots of lymies shop there. Guess im lucky. This is also lyme country though, so they know this stuff.

The regular "health food" or "vitamin" stores stock less and are not what I call a "hippie /herb store" for lack of better terminology. The later is the real deal not to be found in suburbs.

But , yes, if this continues, most places will be sold out. Then it comes down to lowering stress and relaxing/sleeping more.

Personally I think people should try to support "good" brick and mortar for this reason (if possible). Several stores within my reach use and sell Buhner's books, along with others. One even has a very experienced herbalists (almost NP) on site- who takes appointments in rented space there.

You can make your own capsules too, more popular for people on the go, at work ect. For tincture, vegetable glycerine can be used in place of alcohol. I couldn't have any alcohol while using Flagil. ABX.

Figuring out strength equivalents to what your used might be complicated. "Home labs" do add weirdness!

My "hippie health store" has all of this stuff. At first glance, that whole corner of the store with the scales, bags, different dried herbs/weeds, bottles ect looks like a DEA enforcers playground; ..... Im sure in the 60's-70's it was!

I just recently bought a lot of the tinctures from the Hawaii Pharm company. They are still available on amazon. They ship from Hawaii so the shipping takes a little longer, but I've used these tinctures before and I think they are a good company.

iherb seems to be out of most of their entire immune-boosting section. I tried to order herbs today. Another good herb company is Mountain Rose Herbs—I don't know whether they are out of things or not.
