He goes into a lot about WHO, Fauci, etc., and immune system, natural treatments like Vit. D, etc.

President Trump mentioned Zinc in the briefing yesterday. I'm just waiting for him to mention Vit. C.

Also, anybody else side-eyeing India's "reported" cases of just a few thousand? China and India have approximately the same population and are the two most populous countries in the world (and very densely populated in some regions). The US is a very distant third.

There are countless countries in the world that will be providing inaccurate information due to a lack of resources, an authoritarian regime that tightly controls the narrative around their country (like China), or a combination of the two.

The best estimates of this Pandemic won't be made until the months and years after this ends.

Anybody else see store workers wearing gloves as being simply silly? It's worse to wear gloves that you aren't changing frequently (thus you are just transferring more germs around)... than it is to actually wash your hands instead. There was some interesting articles about that. I guess it gives a false sense of security to people.

thats to protect themselves, not customers.

Used properly, masks work to protect the person wearing them.

This is why the docs and nurses on the front lines are wearing them....and were so concerned about the lack of them...

I believe in wearing masks, just saying that a lot of people are doing it wrong.
People definitely don't naturally think that way and it is tough to get people conditioned to do so!
The gloves that store workers are wearing, some people do mistakenly believe that they are somehow protecting customers. We have had a few customers refuse to take their food orders because my employees were not wearing gloves when handing them out. the fact is, those drive thru workers (or checkout clerks) wearing gloves are simply transferring germs from customer to customer, but people don't get that. I have my employees washing or sanitizing their hands after taking each person's payment in an effort to not transfer germs. It's been a frustrating process to get it all through their heads even, so that they are doing everything possible to not cross contaminate things. It's definitely an adventure

My mom just heard through a contact (this person's elderly mom is in a local hospital) that Ballad health (owns a lot of hospitals in our general area) is laying off 1300 employees. The hospital where this person's mom is has closed down the ICU and put the people in fourth floor rooms.

It sounds like some of these shutdown rules are hurting hospitals, especially where there is not much Corona Virus problem? Cure worse than problem? We just don't know how many people will die even partly because of having to be cut off from family, like those in nursing homes and hospitals.

Praying that God will give our president wisdom.

Yes, the masks also protect others around us - so it goes both ways.

The statistics are way way off. Here in my province/country we only test those who are bad enough to go to the hospital...and those who are in the long-term care homes (since they have been hit hard).
I would likely test positive since I was in close quarters with my husband before and in the first few days of his illness...until we figured out that's what he had. (Testing was refused)
His case isn't in the 'count' for our region. Had he gone to the emergency at the hospital....they would have tested him.

But, for us here...I guess if they're being consistent (ie only testing those who go to the hospital/serious cases) then they will still be able to see a trend - ie worsening...or bending the curve...etc.?

Here in Western Canada were hit later and it's still on the rise for us. I do watch the daily updates where our Health Minister reports the status.

A silver living is that video chat become more common. We where 5 people drinking wine together yesterday where one person lives in another country. We have never hanged out over video before. It felt a bit strange but I still liked it a lot.

I ended up buying 30 more masks as I found them for 1 $ per mask again.

I'm also going to guess that Rand Paul had access to chloroquine (or alinia, mepron, azithromycin...)

The vast majority of deaths from covid-19 are in poor minority communities. It's becoming painfully obvious why rich white people aren't dying, or even getting sick, and it's not because they weren't exposed to the virus.

Luckily most of us have access to these medications too.

These guys talking about were getting over/past this ect. What, really? Not in my region. There is more info and data on it but death rate is still doubling overnight. The big cities were hit first, makes sense. I have not seen any regional data stating "age or past health history of those who perished" though, which could be interesting. Im sure the majority aren't young and wernt health- thats reality with any illness. But its not publicly correct to say that anymore. Yes some younger people and kids died (very few), but some have and will continue to die from the Flu too.

So the younger people who live (huge majority) have just had many entry level jobs killed for them on top of the fact that their generation has more dept than any other in modern times. Large corporations are laying off (firing), which is technically different than temporary "corona time off". This eventually trickles down to just more debt to be passed on to others for clean up out of citizens pockets. For some unfortunates, this could be poverty ,illness, which is a path to more possible death (delayed). US citizens all know (should) about the 1930's great depression, it wasn't overnight.

Thing is different areas are affected differently too, ...maybe the strains have differing contagion levels? So anyone with opinions influenced by there local, needs to understand that its a bigger world out there. Wyoming has nothing vs NY'ers living in a "germ incubator".

We know there has got to be data mongers out there who see more specific and detailed patterns than whats reported, to bad opinions and politics get in the way of real data and truth.

I see both sides of this, so still pretty neutral because we have not really learned much collectively in the last month about this, were just getting more used to it.

As neutral as I am, like most here, I keep distance. Why is this free heath option so difficult for some people to grasp? Buying food yesterday had signs and arrows all over, in your face on the floor ect. 50% people followed suggestions. Others just went on there way either ignoring or oblivious (like some drivers lol).

In our own neighbourhood we see people not practising social distancing.

Wow - that is stupid.
Many of the stores open here are using both entrances and aren’t limiting how many go into the store.
The aisles are marked for one way only.

All have tape at the tills on the floor to allow for the 6 feet.

Edit to add: My husband went up one aisle the wrong way (by accident - not paying attention) and he got some dirty looks... lol.

we have been limiting our shopping - trying to stretch two weeks between visits.

I think the main reason we haven’t been hit hard here is because we’re separated from the mainland and ferry/plane are only way to get here.
