Covid-19 Vaccine...opinions?

Keeping inside works...........but we cant do that forever, thus the second wave in Asia. If they cant make a vax thats effective, nature will take its course and the highly susceptible will perish, thats how its been since the beginning of time. We can hide forever and come out with no economy left.

Were already tracked with cell phones, but yes this might get worse. If a vax is made and determined mandatory, they could and might find you, fine you , or disallow paychecks or disallow legit work.

As far as us getting a number for tracking purposes (the bible thumping ranters of society), US citizens are given one at birth, nothing new. Someone already has the last three numbers of you know who. Chipping us would create a revolution, so it will be optional first as some younger people actually like that and are doing so for work purposes today (you stupid kids). Every generation sees more society brainwashing as normal as long as its not all at once.

We aren't staying indoors. We have our yard... and later today we're going to the lake for a walk. Enough landscape to social distance even if there's several people there.

This is lunacy. A vaccine is 18m away and by “flattening the curve” you’re just setting yourself up for another deadly wave. The only way this stops is w herd immunity unless there’s a breakthrough on the vaccine front. You cannot keep the economy closed forever or the whole freakin system will blow. Something tells me the same people criticizing those who want to reopen are the first ones who will be asking for free stuff when we’re in a depression that can’t be contained.

open it back up, people will social distance on their own. It’s like driving a car, a small percentage will die but you let people assume the risk themselves. The hospitals should stay full, so long as they’re not overwhelmed it’s a good thing, it means it’s working way through the population and we’re gaining immunity. Those who are hoping that we’ve flattened the curve and are through the worst are delusional, same with those thinking a miracle vaccine is going to bail us out in the next few months.

This is the sad truth and everyone doesn't wanna face it even though it's just common sense. Let us all play outside again and we'll all get chicken pox. The only way out is through. You can't lock everyone up forever. Let's just get this all over with. Keep the at risk people at home and let the economy go on because the death toll of a tanked economy is far worse than that of COVID. We're going to have an entire generation who lost their jobs relying on government checks to survive. So sick of this media saturation about how important staying inside is. We NEED herd immunity. COVID is here to stay. There won't be a cure for it anytime soon. If they extend the lockdown until we find a vaccine, which it's looking like they are considering, we will all be dead from collateral damage if we don't die of corona. This is getting ridiculous. I wish I could move to another planet.

Agreed. Jobless claims are up something like 25 million. For every death, 565 people have lost their job. What does that cost? How many suicides, divorces, homeless? Will 5 million lives be irreparably ruined because 50k people died, most of whom are old or sick or going to eventually die from covid anyway for the reasons stated above.

To dcd and jb: I dunno.. we do put a price on life all of the time when dealing with public policy, so I understand finding a balance there... and staying like this until there's a vaccine definitely IS crazy talk. I think we need more testing though, and for whatever reason the US is still having trouble rolling out wide scale antibody testing. That's something that wasn't mentioned in the article on Sweden from above. Are they able to monitor the spread more accurately with testing to ensure they're on the right path?

Regarding herd immunity: Didn't South Korea contain the virus with a massive effort in testing, contact tracing, etc. and not with herd immunity? I don't think the virus has had a chance to work it's way through all of China either.

Anyway, maybe we should be more like Sweden, but I respect the fact that it's hard to know the right path for any given society. Models have been all over the map. Hindsight will obviously be much clearer on all of this.

Good Day to all. I was just wondering if a future Covid-19 vaccine would even be an option for anyone dealing with Lyme Disease, or even anyone who has dealt with it in the past, but is now asymptomatic. I haven't had a flu shot since contracting Lyme several years ago because I read that it is not recommended, that it can wreak havoc on our immune system.

This is MUCH MUCH WORSE than flu. I will take any vaccine they give me , even if it was not 100% tested. in this very bad year 2020, i am OK with 95%, i don't expect perfection.

I did not get a flu shot since 2013, and yes i have some second thoughts about flu shots too. But for gods sake, this is not flu, the entire world has stopped for a reason. it's a really bad virus and u DO NOT WANT to make the disease, u want anything else : stay in home, protect yourself, get a vaccine shot if there is any...

we can argue about taking flu shots and if they are good or bad next year after this corona craziness is over.

Some hospitals made living quarters for the staff- like in vacant hotels ect as to not come in contact with their families- yes - some have been away from family a long time now and for good reason. Others have isolated on their own in fear of infecting family.

Old folks homes are not like that and understaffed with lower paid staff who, most, go back home every night. Thats the problem.

I would probably get it. I would not be first in line and I would be insistent on getting a thermisol free one.

I was in the ER last night for an emergency appendix removal. The ER was basically split in half there was no access between the two halves but you could see in the other half through cobbled together doors. There were numerous young people on ventilators. They sent me home after the procedure normally they said I probably would have stayed a day if not two. They said theres no way I should go into the main hospital. It was eye opening in a sad way.

Yes, from what I've heard - people usually stay in hospital for at least one night...sometimes more.


Do you live in a larger city? And how bad is the covid outbreak there?

I'm about 1 hour outside Boston in Maine. The county I live in has a lot of cases. I went to a smaller hospital most covid patients are sent or going to the larger hospital. There were still a good number at the hospital I went to though.

I don't have any underlying health issues so they say. So they felt comfortable booting me to the curb so to say. I'm toughing it out I'm allergic to nsaids and Tylenol doesn't work on me. I didn't think narcotics was wise. Fortunately it just feels like I got in a bad bar fight.

I'd stay far away from that vaccine. It's going to be manufactured in China right where the virus came from. China has nothing but the best intentions for its citizens and for the US as well. They want to keep you safe and healthy. Pure altruism.

It sounds like a conspiracy theory but this is absolutely spot on. Bill Gates wants the whole world to get a vaccine so he can put in a cryptocurrency chip. Anyone without the vaccine cannot conduct business and will go bankrupt as the world economy is already in a steep decline (especially US). Someone compared this to the "mark of the beast" in the Bible.

I'm quite sure I would steer clear of any vaccine. This episode was from about three years ago, but they just put out another docu-series. The new series talks about COVID-19, but I don't know which episode.
