Can't tolerate more than 150mg of Rifampin at once

Is it possible to recover on a half dose? I can tolerate 150 2x/day but once I went to 300 all he** broke loose. Not even for a day can I tolerate that much. Everything started going haywire inexplicably. I thought it was food reactions like usual but this occurred while my diet was completely clean and the same as before. My LLMD was planning on getting me up to full dose 4 days a week. Would it be possible to just take a half dose every day and have the same effect or am I wasting my time? He says we have hit a roadblock and I am feeling rather hopeless because I either seem to not improve or get worse with every treatment and Rifampin is supposed to be the best thing for bart. He's considering adding disulfiram a couple days a week but I don't know what that will do.

Have you tried 150 am and 300 pm?

How long on the 300 twice daily before it gets bad?

Any time I dose 300 it doesn't work. Even if I do 300 once a day. I could never do it twice daily.

How long have you been taking it?

Maybe after several months on half dose, and you get the bart load down.. you can then try increasing it?

My doc had me on 150 mg twice daily for a few months. To be honest I do not think I could have tolerated a higher dose due to methylation issues.

Girlie I've been on it for just about a month now. I just moved to 300/150 (4x/week) a couple weeks ago and started declining rapidly so I don't think I gave it very long before I tried to go full force. It may just be too soon.

Summer did you go up to the full dose after that or how long did it take you to titrate up/how did you do it?

Okay that sounds doable then. I just didn't want to develop resistance by staying at such a low dose. I'll ask about just staying here for a few months then. Thanks guys

If you can’t do more - why not stick to the 150 twice/day

I believe rifampin is important to beating bart.
Do what you can, even open and dump material from a capsule to get down dosage to a tolerable level.
If you are reacting to it in a herx you have enough.
I don't know how to differentiate from an allergic reaction to the rifampin though, apparently an issue in starting and stopping rifampin, so the recommendation is not to stop and start this drug to avoid reactions. I would imagine even a low dose is better than stop/start.
I have been on 300mg as a single dose for 22 days now (first time use) and have been in low grade herx for weeks, just don't feel very well some days.
