New protocol: Can’t get Pyrmethamine and leucovorin

Hi all,
So it look likes I’m now going after Bart with Dr. J. Clinic.

I’m pulsing Rifampin, Bactrim and Mino.
To that I was supposed to add Pyrmethamine 50/leucovorin 10mg

Sadly, I can’t get it in Canada. The clinic said that sadly, there is no alternative to it and to do the protocol without it.

My question, did Pyrmethamime gave you good results in the past? How bummed ou should I be about not having it.

I've never used Pyrmethamine but am curious how you have done so far on Dr. J protocol? Did u just finish Lyme/Babesia Part B?

Alxander - where are you getting your other abx? I’m trying to remember where/how your scripts are filled.
Mine are filled at a pharmacy in BC and the pharmacist compounds it

Girlie- interesting, the compoud pharmacie here said the base product was simply not available in Canada... now that’s odd that you could get it in BC... wish I could order from there.

I’ve plateau’ed at 75-80% for a year. Curious to see if that new protocol will do me any good. Will be my first time on Rifampin.
My previous LLMD said that Rifampin was not to be pulsed... so even of I trust dr J, it does makes me a bit nervous.

I hope you do well with it. I got worse on the Lyme Babesia Part A so have switched to Lyme/Bart protocol (Rifabutin, Omnicef, Septra DS, Cipro, and Flagyl). I've wondered about pulsing for Bart but do think I will stick with his protocol to see how I do.

Alexander - Are you going to take Dapsone? I was prescribed it along with the Daraprim (pyramethamine)

I was prescribed Rifampin by K.F...
Should I seek Rifanbutin instead? I could maybe contact them about it.. if it’s better?

As for the Daraprim, do you think I could order it from an actual compound pharmacie in BC? Im not comfortable with alldaychemist..

I think you could call the pharmacy I use and see if you could send the script to them.
It’s in BC
Maybe it’s not available anymore.(Pyramethamine )

But first ask them if they can fill the script for it.

Although, I think they may need the script to come from Dr J office - so you may have to call the J clinic and ask them to send one to them.

If you want the info send me an email.
The J clinic would likely take a week to even get the script to my pharmacy so you might have to do the first round without it.

I found Rifampin easier to tolerate - I had taken it prior to the J clinic.
I did improve a lot on it... I think it’s fine you’re on it - I just didn’t know they prescribed it.

Alexander, I had my pyrimethamine/leucovorin filled at a Michigan pharmacy that Dr J uses. The Dr office took care of all the scripts with the pharmacy and all I had to do was pay and they shipped it to me. I am located in the US so I don't know if they can ship to Canada.
