It's nerves. Look up paresthesias. You do not feel the bacteria themselves. The infections cause inflammation and irritation to your nervous system, so you may feel sensations because of that - which can be the result of active infection, herxing, or nerve damage. There have been other posts about nerve twitching recently, so maybe check those out and see if any of the tips are helpful.

Some people with Lyme have Morgellon's, which can also feel like something is crawling under or even out of the skin.

Mold exposure is another issue often seen with Lyme that can cause a lot of bizarre sensations and nerve issues. Have you explored mold as a possibility? The symptoms can be indistinguishable from Bartonella.

Hang in there. I know the sensory symptoms can be so distracting and maddening!

Hi Girlie.May 19 will be a year I have been on abx.Currently right now I am on Clarithromycin,rifampin,plaquenil,and started disulfiram January 18.The twitching have slowed some but it’s been there for so long and it’s nerve wrecking.The twitching and occasional numbness is basically all I have left but they do not want to leave.

It is your nerves -caused by lyme and CO’s.
It can take awhile to resolve - how long have you been treating?
What are you treating with ?

My arms twitched the most (compared to other body parts). Especially my left (bad) side.

Have you ever had the twitching - where it almost freezes in the middle of the twitch...like it's spinning it's wheels...?

I had some twitching, but I only remember it being while I was in the first moldy house. After leaving that house, I don’t recall having twitching

However, I do recall having eyelid or facial twitching on routine occasions in childhood and throughout my life. I also recall having severe leg shaking when driving after getting startled by a near accident or something and maybe even unprovoked. That happened a number if times. I also used to get muscle twitches occasionally in my legs. I am guessing that was from bartonella.

It’s so weird because for all my life UNTIL I got sick, I had so many symptoms that fit bartonella, but AFTER I got sick, many of those symptoms stopped or changed.

Yes my twitching (fasciculations) did resolve with treatment.

Every now and then - I’ll get some twitching for a day or two - then it stops.

fellow twitcher here. My twitching resolves with treatment. Antibiotics seem to stop them faster 4-6 days. When I do herbs it takes about 12-14 days for the twitches to stop.

The best thing about having twitches is that it is my first signal that I need to order herbs. It is nice to have an objective measureable symptom vs. trying to track your fatigue/ brain fog/ pain etc. those symptoms can creep up on you like a frog sitting in boiling water. The twitches don't let it creep up on me.

Obviously, the twitching is horrible and when it happens 24/7 it is maddening, but hopefully you can get it under control. I was able to.
