New Tick bite , please help

Hi

This afternoon, I just saw a tick on my back,most probably it's been there less than a day, we pulled it out, but I am not sure if it's the entire thing or not, maybe the head is still stuck inside? But the pulled out part is alive and walking . Can the tick still be alive if a part is missing ? I stored in a ziplock bag, should I send it for testing ? I saw a couple of websites online for tick testing , but I wasnt sure about this. Could someone please suggest where I could send the tick for testing and also what inmediate action do I take , should I visit a physician to check the bite area for any leftover parts? Should I be starting antibiotics?. Or do I find a lyme specialist to start antibiotics?
Any answers will be greatly appreciated, I have no idea about tick bites and found this helpful forum, while I was searching online.

You can send the tick to Igenex. They specialize in Lyme disease testing.
I would send it there.

In the northeast Umass does tick testing, they now require you to mail it in due to covid. I think its 50 for the basic and up to 200 for all the test. There may be local universities next to you.

Your body will push out the left over parts they usually are pretty deep. You usually really have to dig to get them out because they break apart when you try and pull them out when your digging. I had a doctor remove one I regretted it, it turned into a personal challenge for him to get it out.

Check a local university if your in a heavy tick area they often test and are quicker. If your in Maine umaine does them for $15. $75 for igenex is a complete ripoff but if you have no other options.

Thanks so much for all the responses, I'll check the details about both the tests now and I'll mail it out tomorrow morning. Meanwhile is there anything I could do, or do I wait for the report and then consult a doctor? Thanks for the responses. Should I be worried that there is anything still stuck inside the skin? (Would the testing include identifying the tick also)

Thanks so much for all the information, we are in Richmond, Virginia, regarding igenex tests, should I order all the tests offered on the form ? I see there are many tests here? I also checked the tick report website offered by UMass. I'll mail it in to one of these tomorrow. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions.

I would call Igenex and ask them about the tests - if you choose to send it there

Id suggest also trying to get on antibiotics usually doxycycline for two weeks at a minimum. Your family doctor may be willing to prescribe them, unfortunately they may say just wait and see if you get sick.

Get your general doctor or a walk in center to check that all the tick is out.
You need doxycycline for 3 weeks.
Igenex testing is wildly expensive, regardless you are way too early to show anything.

Getting the tick tested is important.
