Throat feels like it's closing??? Herx???

Hi!
I am currently taking the following medications & herbs:
Doxy, cat's claw, oil of oregano, Pepcid, magnesium, and CBD oil.

I've been on this regimene for 3 days however I've started feeling like my throat is closing up. I check my pulse and oxygen saturation and they're both normal (oxygen is 98-99%). I have asthma and noticed last night before bed I kept yawning (I have asthma and would experience this constant yawning when I was having asthma issues).

The feeling eventually goes away. But it's a little scary.
Has anyone else ever experienced this was treatment? I've taken all this medicines & herbs before without any issues so I'm wondering if this is a herx reaction. Or could it be gastroenterology related since I forgot to take my Pepcid for two days. Praying it isn't an allergic reaction trying to flare up.

I also wanted to add activated charcoal to my regime to detox but now I'm nervous I'm mixing too many things?

A throat feeling like it is closing up is time to call the doctor. Nothing to mess around with.

You have more than one thing that could be causing it and I so dislike guessing when it involves breathing. Better to be safe than sorry, so call the doctor.

I agree w/ PeteZa - throat closing up is a red flag sx and I hope you are able to get to see someone ASAP.

I would agree that you need to know for sure that it's not an allergic reaction first and foremost.

It may not be though - and may be part of a herx. But you MUST rule out that it's an allergic reaction starting first.

When I"m in treatment for Babesia is when those yawning becomes something I do a LOT. I don't have many symptoms of Babesia or Bart until I start treatment for them. Yawning when someone has a Babesia infection is the body's attempt at getting more oxygen because Babesia destroys red blood cells - the ones that carry oxygen around our bodies. It doesn't help much, but we still may yawn a lot.

I thought typically if it was an allergic reaction it wouldn't just event go away? I wonder if it's just anxiety because I had it this morning after taking cats claw and my probiotic. I had last night hours after I had taken cat's claw.

I wonder if it's my probiotic because I did take it last night. How could you rule out an allergic reaction?

Yes, generally an allergic reaction will go away, but what we worry about is how bad will it get first???

A doctor would test for histamines, unless there was an obvious amount of allergic reactions taking place. Things like rashes, throat closing off (or the feeling it), trouble breathing (more in a general sort of way), sudden, severe diarrhea, vomiting, swelling of face or extremities.

If you don't have any of the above things, what about calling your LLMD and at least talking it over with them before the weekend? I'd hate for you to think it's all okay and then over the weekend (when your LLMD won't be available) an allergic reaction sends you to the emergency room!

Hi, Seekinghealth. I have not seen these posters for over a year (as I recall) so I doubt that they will respond. What's going on for you right now?

Sometimes I feel like my throat is tight when I'm exposed to allergens, and I've also had throat tightness from stress and anxiety. Throat tightness also has happened for me as a result of food allergy (melon) and medication allergy (paroxetine), and in the case of allergic reactions, it's really nothing to mess around with - you simply do not ingest that substance again! Too risky. And you go to the hospital if you need to.

You're probably also aware that a sensation of not quite getting enough air, or "air hunger," is common with the tick-borne co-infection Babesia.

My partner has experienced throat pain and tightness when a vertebrae is out of alignment.

It's never become serious for me, fortunately, and I have a pulse oximeter that comes in handy for reassuring me that I'm getting enough oxygen. Pulse oximeters are super useful, although right now they're a little hard to find because of COVID-19 (people caught on about how useful they are!).
