Hi.Do anyone know what may help this?The last couple weeks my scalp has been itching and flaking really bad.I have had some burning and tingling in and off in my scalp lately.Now the itching seems like it’s coming more from the inside where stretching don’t seem to help.I wonder if it’s the nerves being aggravated?I believe I am mostly right now dealing with Bartonella.I wonder if I need a antibiotic that crosses the bbb better.I am not on antibiotics now but this is worrisome and it’s shedding my hair.Thanks

What have you tried for it?

If you suspect fungal, you can try ketoconazole shampoo which you can now by OTC. I believe it's Nizoral.

I have itching without flaking. Antihistamines and tea tree shampoo help me. Also avoiding shampoo with sulfates. My son has itching and flaking which the ketoconazole shampoo helps. He notices a big flare up if he eats a lot of sugar.

Hey Brandiwine.I just keep washing but it’s not doing any good so I don’t know what to do.Hoping someone can advise.The itching seems to be more nerves now because no matter how much I stratch it itch like it’s untouchable.

Any chance this is psoriasis? The back of the scalp is a common spot for that, and it's in the autoimmune realm. Flakes, itches, can even ooze. I has psoriasis on the back on my scalp for a while (pre-chronic illness) and tried everything I could think of, but what helped was two days of prescription triamcinolone acetonide cream. (I am the last person to advocate pharma solutions, but really I tried dozens of other things first, and no improvement.)

Could you have become allergic to your shampoo?
I have been having this problem and I was treating it as a fungal infection with tea tree oil, baking soda powder and apple cider vinegar. But with no change.
The day before yesterday I used a different shampoo and theres been no issue since.

I got this once I started thyroid medication.

Makes no sense because I had low thyroid levels before starting medication.

Are you sweating more now thats its summer? more sweating = more sebum = clogged hair follicles and possible increased scalp yeast also possibly creating dandruff.

As noted earlier:Nizoral contains 1% Ketoconazole which is anti yeast, this not only eliminates dandruff but is also good for clogged hair follicles.

You can get 2% Ketoconazole Rx version also.

Make sure you try selenium sulfide (selsun blue ) if that doesn't work try 20oz of water to 1 tablespoon borax. If that doesn't work and you have already tried nizoral, coal tar, suphur, vinegar, tea tree, neem etc you can assume that it is not superficial scalp fungus such as tinea.
I know sometimes for me rashes are simply lymph deposits of toxins.
They would go away the more i detox, but would come back if say I got dehydrated that day. guess you could say they were a dip in the road where the puddle forms so to speak. But there wasn't actually anything specific living there causing a problem.
On that similar vein I remember when I first started doing infrared sauna my sweat was so toxic that it was actually irritating my skin like a burning sensation that would in turn cause minor scabbing so it's possible that your head is trying to detox through your hair follicles and over producing skin to shield from the damage
