Pericarditis - Anti-Inflammatory prescription?

Hello all,

I just came back from a trip to ER where a doctor diagnosed me with a Pericarditis.

He prescribed me anti-inflammatory to get rid of it.. but the thing is that I know that anti-inflamatories are not recommended with Lyme.

Should I still take the prescription ?

I may be wrong but i thought anti inflamatories are ok if there non steroidal? What was found for the Pericarditis diagnosis?

it may mean that the Doc thinks your pericarditis is viral in nature and therefore hopes your immune system will take care of it and adding anti-inflammatories may help reduce symptoms.

However, Lyme itself is known to cause pericarditis as one of the recognized complications and so this could be the cause of your symptoms - if so ( and I must stress "if" - as I am just another internet well-wisher ) - intravenous antibiotics are typically the treatment of choice as its a dangerous condition.
Lyme also causes ( among aa very long list of possible symptoms ) inflammation of the chest wall - that can be misdiagnosed as pericarditis or other heart problems.

How did they diagnose pericarditis?
do they know of / recognize your Lyme diagnosis?

If it were me I would be inclined to go back and get Lyme pericarditis ruled out

Hey guys, thanks for the reply.

I'm pretty anxious right now has lyme to permanently injure my heart is definitly something I don't want.
The doctor I saw at the ER was definitly not a Lyme literrate doctor. He was still not totally closed at my Lyme situation, he said that Lyme complication would usually be Carditis and not Pericarditis... but I think he just didnt have knowledge about the Lyme reality.
He did bloodwork to ensure heart was not damage and xray to look at the lungs; everything was ok.

As we speak I've put a hold on the Naproxen and waiting for the Jemsek clinic to come back to me about what they think about it.

I've started taking Turmeric in the meaning to try to calm the inflammation a bit.

As trekkar mentioned non-steroidal anti-inflammatory should be fine
