Just wondering how many ticks you all have seen this season? We have seen at least one a week, sometimes 3 days in a row, some on the children (thank God not attached but crawling) and even a dead one today in a child’s bed! My husband had one attached to him a few days ago (again!)

I bet we’ve seen more than 10 on family members or in the house in June alone. I don’t know if I am just more aware, if ticks are more prevalent this year, or if we’ve just missed them all these years we didn’t know about the seriousness of it all.

We do live in the woods and pick them up sometimes after we’ve been working in the field. Am I alone in seeing THIS many or is this common with you all?

I guess it depends on where you live.

I’ve seen one - on my husband.
I think it was a tick - when I squeezed it - blood came out of it.
Actually I’ve seen two - there was one on my hair a few years ago.

My husband got doxy for ten days from our Dr and he did a few days of minocycline that I gave him prior to the doxy.
It should have been 4 weeks of treatment but he didn’t continue despite my nagging.

Did your husband get antibiotics ?
He should if the tick was attached.

If you’re seeing them all the time - have you considered using permetherin (sp?) or at least a spray with essential oils ?

How good is the accuracy of the tick testing? It is stated something like 99% or something. Every time we’ve had an attached tick, we’ve sent it for testing. But, I am now thinking I hope it is reliable, far more so than the people lyme tests.

We’ve not had a tick test come back with positive Borrelia or any other coinfections. I get concerned thinking about what if it is a different strain though.

I’ve heard the tick testing is very reliable. I should have sent the one on my husband to Igenex but it was all mashed into pieces and didn’t realuze it was ok to send in that condition.

If you have woods around you.............but still have a lawn, you need to spray it with insecticide on a regular basis to at least keep them off your yard. It helps.They will walk a long way, its almost like they smell blood.

If working out on the land, you really need to change clothing before coming inside. This is wear a so called "mud room" comes in handy or covered porch. Or an attached garage.

I wont have a dogs anymore since they bring ticks in the home. Had several in the past, a home is cleaner without animals.

I just found a tick attached that sucked blood on my leg. I was walking around in the woods yesterday and didnt see it when I checked my body before a shower, so hopefully it havent been there for too long. I went in a bit to long to eat some blueberries that I normally never do sad
Took Argentyn 23, A-l complex, GI Ultramax and H2 Elite when I saw it this morning and will continue with treating a bit again. For the last 2 weeks I have only been taking H2 Elite.

Ticks have been really bad this year in Southeastern PA. Our property is kinda infested. It's horrible.

The last few years I have been putting out homemade tick tubes but I can't say they're helping much, if at all. I've seen evidence that the mice are using the cotton from the tubes as is intended.. I guess we have so many other animals with ticks though (chipmunks, ground hogs, deer) that targeting the ticks on mice just isn't enough.

So I started spraying this stuff made from essential oils around the yard. It's primarily cedar oil. I think it's helping but not sure yet...

In the spring we were also finding ticks in the house. I put the dog back on Frontline and we haven't seen any ticks in the house since.

I've had three on me, four or five on daughter, two in house, three attached to my grandson and one on my son. They are really bad this year. I hate to do it but I bought a bunch of bags of poison and plan on doing around the house and by chicken coop to try and keep them down. Dogs are on Frontline or nexguard for get which. I'm with Astro on this one, no more dogs after these ones pass. I have had them all of my life but no more inside animals. Well except for an African grey parrot who will outlive me.

Hermit crabs and goldfish make nice pets.......not to loving, but low maintenance......ha ha

My family had so many animals when I was a kid that I'm "animaled out" .

I’ve read opossums will keep the tick population down - I think they eat them.

We have indoor cats for pets

Dont the chickens eat the ticks? Turkeys eat them not sure on chickens. Our last dog had such such thick fur Im convinced ticks could not get to her. Although she probably brought them in the house.

Skinny joe, I'm sure they eat some of them but it's a lot of land and a small flock. Five birds. Just enough to get a dozen eggs every three days. We have a spot in the woods by the chicken coop that we hang out at. Picnic table, chairs, fire pit etc. I keep it mowed. Chickens are like pets. Come when called, can be held, like to hang out with us when we are over there. Grandson loves to play with them. I think that's where he keeps getting them.

Some of them are so tiny I can't see legs on them without a magnifying glass. Just look like a speck of dirt. Insanely small and hard to spot.

You could have inside cats - we stopped allowing cats to go out after two mysteriously disappeared.
(Were quite certain a neighbour is responsible )

Inside cats are great - clean and no ticks or fleas.

Lol - I’ve mentioned indoor cats three times - just read the entire thread. Haha

So far this year I have pulled 5 ticks off of me. All attached and sucking away. This is a bad tic year and I think the mild Virginia winter last year allowed them to flourish. No negative outcomes from the 5 bites. I believe my immune system to be fully recovered now and up to the defense task. In addition, I still am on the Buhner and Rawls protocols. Now, ticks bite me, they get a mouth full of herbs, LOL.

Rig - keep an eye out for symptoms after a bite.. you want to get on it right away...

Will do and have been keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. In an odd way I view the new bites over the past two months as a kind of stress test of my recovery. I have been in remission for some time now and am hitting upwards of 95% in my return to full health metrics. So in short, it further builds my confidence.

Cats=Bart..........for a long time known in the "pet industry" and obviously vets too (have relatives in that). Not good around infants or toddlers for heath reasons.

I vote for gold fish. They don't need cat nip and wont roll over like dogs do though.. When there sick, you'll know - when there floating upside down. : (

Squirrels also carry tics and drop them off as they move around. My yard became overrun by them. They were everywhere. This year in May I built a squirrel trap and reduced the herd. In total I captured about 18 to 20 of my jittery pals. Transported them all to a new location near a stream in the woods two miles away. A very nice new home for them, kinda upgrade. During the trapping, I would sometime see tics walking in the trap after the squirrel was released.

Oh my! It’s the squirrels!! We seriously have what seems like thousands of them in our woods right behind the house, they steal ALL the apples off our trees, they are everywhere. I’ve never thought about that...
Our squirrel population definitely needs thinning.

We used to have guinea fowl, at least 30, roaming around and I’ve heard they are fabulous for reducing the tick population but our stupid farm dogs have decided it’s fun to kill everything we try to have now.
