Is this the Lyme bullseye?

Greetings! I was hoping someone with a keen eye can tell me if this is a tick bite? I have Lyme but have never witnessed a physical bite or its immediate effects thereafter. This belongs to my friend’s son. He was bitten by something in the backyard and they all assumed it was a mosquito bite. He continuously scratched the itch and a scab formed. The surrounding tissue was inflamed and raised. Eventually scab fell off and left a crater in the skin. Thing is, the red ring didn’t really show till about 9 days after the fact. I have questioned if the red ring is from swelling or if it truly is the bullseye formation. He was put on antibiotics and is currently a week in and day after starting the abx course, the swelling reduced.

So is this a case of Lyme or just a mosquito bite gone wrong? Should there be a distinct mark where the tick has burrowed? Is abx early on a successful treatment? I believe he was put on amoxicillin due to possibly some sensitivity. I know other antibiotics are a more appropriate treatment but that was the counsel from the doctor who is probably not Lyme versed. Thank you for the input and hopefully I can put my friends mind at ease.

Looks like a bullseye to me - if I were her I’d treat him with antibiotics.
Does he have any symptoms - fatigue.. headache..joint pain...fever...

Treatment with antibiotics must continue until all symptoms are gone plus a few more weeks.

They do come in varieties, its possible, but some spider bites do that too. better safe than sorry though.

My bullseye was huge, more obvious (yet Drs blew it off back then), and then it got infected.

Looks like a picture perfect bulls eye (erythema migrans) rash to me. I think they most commonly appear a week or 2 after the bite. Some people seem to get itchy at the site of the bite and some don't. I'm personally one who gets itchy.

Good that it was caught early and glad he's on amoxicillin which is also what my kids were prescribed for tick bites in the past. He should be fine.

amoxicillin is effective for Lyme - its typically used for children where they worry that the usual drug of choice (doxycycline) will discolor their teeth.

Thanks for the massive help. I’ll pass this along. As far as I know, he did have a fever within that week. Sounds like the symptoms, when first bitten, varies for different people. Frustrating cause this leads to many undiagnosed cases.
