Track how many calories you are eating in a day. Do you think it's significantly fewer than it was before? Most people lose a bit of weight when they switch from a mainstream diet to one that's less processed and less inflammatory, but the weight loss stops at a healthy level.
Another possibility is that you have SIBO or Candida overgrowth, so a diet that does not contribute to those will mean you naturally lose weight. (I lost 25 pounds in a month when I treated gut dysbiosis.)
Have you been less physically active since you became ill? Muscle loss might account for some of the weight loss.
I understand not wanting to lose more weight, as I am thin as well and feel skeletal at times when I'm very ill. I eat primarily cooked grains (quinoa, rice, millet, etc.) and steamed veggies. You can drizzle as much olive oil or coconut oil on them as you want for additional calories. Nuts, seeds, and nut butters also pack in a lot of calories. Guacamole, hummus, tahini-based sauces, and protein powders also add extra calories and nutrients for me.
Others will chime in about things to do with animal products, probably. Do you eat meat and chicken eggs?
My diet is sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, and low-histamine, which is extremely limiting. Only recently have I started to put on some weight, after years of hovering pretty low despite my best efforts!
It's not uncommon to lose your appetite with Lyme, or even have gastroparesis or persistent nausea. To what do you attribute the nausea? Do you have food allergies, MCAS, reflux, other digestive issues? Are you on any meds or herxing?
Thanks for a very detailed reply, appreciate it! I'm actually following candida diet mostly as I do feel I have possibility for candida. Maybe that's doing something then?
I still do exercise (running) as my symptoms are mostly neurological and severity varies.
I do eat eggs and meat. Is there downsides to that? I'd probably be anorexic already without em lol. There's so much conflicting info, some say that rice, hummus and even quinoa is bad.
Never had any food allergies and the nausea actually began after starting the treatment (few weeks ago). So it could be a herx or intolerance to one of the herbs (probably hawthorne or knotweed). But I'm monitoring the situation.
