Hi, Blakeleysmom. I'm always glad to see that you've posted with updates.
When I first got very ill and started trying to figure out what was wrong, I pushed for an EBV test, which was negative, but I read that it usually is negative early on because people have not produced antibodies to it yet. Two months later, I pushed a different doctor for another EBV test, and it was a very high positive IgG and has remained high ever since, for years. I believe EBV is what weakened my system, allowing widespread dysfunction and opportunistic tick-borne infections to flourish.
She could have contracted it more recently, or perhaps she was tested when it was still a recent infection?
A lot of people do have some history with EBV, and it can be dormant and opportunistic, too. My LLMDs have emphasized the following to treat it when it's chronic:
- general immune health (fix leaky gut, probiotics, medicinal mushrooms, reduce inflammation)
- transfer factor (particularly PlasMyc from Researched Nutritional, which contains actual EBV antibodies)
- liposomal glutathione
- antiviral meds or herbs
I hope that the ND is helpful for you! I'm sure you both could use some relief ASAP!
